Just last Tuesday, Winford Manila Resort and Casino invited me and my wife to an exclusive midweek staycation party together with select members of the media as well as influencers and tastemakers. We also had a quick walk around the establishment and were given a taste of Winford Manila’s delectable food and drink offerings.
The best treats are normally the ones you never really expect.
This is pretty much how I would put in a single sentence my short but sweet stay at Winford Hotel and Casino in Manila.
Little did I know that right smack in the middle of the bustling Manila scene, I would happen to chance upon a delightful escape that rivals the experience one gets from the usual, more established hotels in the metro.
I’m sure that some of you who probably live in and around Manila already know about Winford Hotel and Casino. It’s actually not hard to find since the place is strategically located just a stones throw away from commercial establishments and malls. But for someone like me who only passes through the busy city of Manila every so often, it was a truly pleasant surprise — even more pleasant when I experienced staying at Winford with my family for a couple of nights.
During holy week, most folks including a good number of my friends usually head out to various summer destinations. Given that holy week presents a long holiday, it is the best window to plan a vacation.
But it has somewhat been customary for #TheDreys (That’s us!) to stay in the metro and enjoy the peacefulness of the city while seemingly two thirds of the metro’s population are elsewhere. This year was no different… although, instead of literally staying at home, we decided to close out holy week (Black Saturday and Easter Sunday) at F1 Hotel Manila — our home in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

So, together with other members of The KTG (Kain Tulog Gang) family, we spent an incredibly fun getaway at F1 Hotel Manila, filled with fun, festivities and FOOD!
When it comes to hotels and finding a place where one can have a relaxing getaway, there are tons of options around. But there are only a few that really stand out no matter how brief one’s stay is.
One such place that impressed me a whole lot is the newly opened Somerset Alabang Manila. I had the pleasure of staying here just a couple of weeks ago and I must say, every praise I’ve heard that was said about this establishment is truly well deserved.
Although my stay at Somerset Alabang Manila was very brief (overnight, actually), I made sure to take advantage of the room we stayed in and make the most of the time we had.
When choosing a hotel to stay at with family, whether for a quick staycation or an extended reprieve from the busy work load, what are the major considerations that you take into account that affect your decision making?
Well, if you happen to be in Metro Manila and considering a place to take family to that’s logistically accessible and equally enjoyable to spend a couple of days at, you might want to put Hyatt City of Dreams Manila on your shortlist.
It’s been a good while since my family and I last visited the beautiful city of Baguio. If memory serves me right, it was roughly a little more than a year since. So, it was a very welcome opportunity when my wife and I got the invitation to stay at one of the more recognizable and family-friendly hotels in this place — Azalea Hotels and Residences Baguio.
Apart from the stay itself, I was looking forward to experiencing Azalea Hotels and Residences Baguio’s Family Fun Package which aims to give families checking in at Azalea a memorable stay which is truly one of a kind.
It seems like only bigger and better things are in store for the rapidly developing city of Angeles — particularly the Clark Freeport Zone.
With plans of moving airline terminals to this bustling location and a much talked about (and eagerly anticipated) rail transport system in the planning stages, everything appears to be looking up.
One such establishment that is slowly making its mark and drawing people from far and wide is the newly opened Midori Clark Hotel and Casino — a 9,000 square meter property located inside the Clark Freeport Zone.
It’s always great to come home. Whatever idea or place home is to you, rushing back to its arms is something one always longs for and yearns to return to. Home is where comfort, security, love and family are found.
Home. This is exactly how our fun and wacky foodie group (called, “The KTG”) considers F1 Hotel Manila.
Who says that escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life should always include an out of town getaway? There are so many options and ways to relax and destress even without leaving the metro.
One great place to spend that much needed escape is at the brand spankin’ new Golden Phoenix Hotel Manila.
Although Golden Phoenix Hotel Manila is a new establishment located just a stone’s throw away from the SM Mall of Asia, they aren’t really new players in the hospitality business. Their very own Boracay branch has been in business for a good while now.
One need not to be away from home to escape the daily stresses and monotony of everyday life.
Apart from the popular 5-star hotels that are easily top of mind when one thinks of family getways, there are actually other hotels in the city that offer great accommodation and service. These places actually make you realize that more than distance, it’s the homey feeling and personal attention that an establishment offers that makes a staycation memorable.
One such hotel that my family and I have recently been to which I am pleased to report has excellent service and amazing rooms is the City Garden Grand Hotel along Makati Avenue in Makati City.
