Nuffnang Philippines‘ “Blogopolis #Into The Wild” was truly the BIGGEST and undoubtedly THE BEST blogging and social media conference in the country for 2013.
I am very honored to have been a speaker together with my wife, talking about a topic that’s very close to my heart – managing social media accounts.
I’d like to thank Nuffnang Philippines for trusting our knowledge on that particular aspect of social media enough to believe that it is worth sharing with countless guests who attended the huge event. Read more
I’d like to invite all bloggers and just about anyone who is active in social media to come to Blogopolis 2013: #INTOTHEWILD (Weaving Information for Leaders of the Digital World).
Check out the video below (which my wife and I are a part of)…
This year, Blogopolis 2013: #INTOTHEWILD is taking you to the Information Jungle. With the surge of social media, and other online platforms, this conference wants to help you make sense of the digital world. Key speakers will be discussing social media know-how and digital marketing and advertising trends.
I’d like to thank Thinkscape for making me their brand ambassador for the Cookoo Watch and all their other really awesome tech gadgets. I was recently (officially) introduced to guests during Thinkscape’s media launch last September 12, 2013. Cheers!
I’d like to thank everyone who came over to Glorietta and joined in the festivities as we celebrated #SocialMediaWeekend with the theme- “Let’s move #fwdPH”.
I had lots of fun hosting the program proper with co-hosts, Patricia Hizon and Bry Ramirez… I hope you guys enjoyed it as well.
Congratulations to everyone who made it possible… the organizers, the sponsors, the guest speakers, as well as all the really helpful volunteers who spent all their time and effort to ensure the overwhelming success of this year’s whole day event.
I’d like to invite everyone to attend Social Media Weekend 2013 this Saturday (June 29) at the Glorietta Activity Center, Makati City.
The theme for this year is “Let’s move #fwdPH”.
Just like Social Media Day 2012, this year’s event will be packed with activities and fun.
“Let’s move #fwdPH” means being a good citizen both online and offline. Being responsible. Being vocal. Taking a stand on issues. Exposing corruption and incompetence. Making politics work for the country, especially the voiceless, poor and marginalized. And using social media to help achieve these.
I will be hosting the program proper from 4pm-7pm.
I’m really excited about Social Media Weekend 2013 because it is an opportunity for people active in social media to truly come together and make things happen. As an individual who is very active online, I am convinced that social media is the most powerful tool, not just for communication, but as a vehicle for sweeping change. Change for the greater good. It is the great equalizer. It levels the playing field and gives each and every individual a voice.
Everyone is encouraged to come. Admission is FREE!
I look forward to meeting new faces and bonding with all of you.
Last night, I had the pleasure of hosting Tech21 Impactology’s media launch held at “Ramen Bar”, Robinsons Magnolia. A lot of good friends from traditional and social media arrived to see what makes Tech21’s Impactology products different from others sold in the market. It was an incredibly fun night filled with laughter, banter and lots of ramen (of course!). Read more
Before I get to the meat of this post, let me first start by stating that what I am about to say below is solely my opinion without any bias, favoritism or partiality whatsoever.
Ok. Now that I’ve made that clear, let’s get right to it…
It is very sad.
One can already malign someone by sharing one’s opinion in a blog like this one. Before you know it, it already spreads like wildfire on social media either on Twitter or Facebook.
Take the case of Globe CEO, Ernest Cu, who was taken out of context last night at the CloudFone event held at Prive at the Fort. He was quoted as saying: “Kokonti lang ang kilala kong may hitsura na Smart User”. Actually, I find this funny and not offensive at all. A lot of people didn’t find it offensive either.
Kung sinabi kong, “Lahat ng naging girlfriend ko ay magaganda at seksi”, ibig sabihin ba nun lahat ng bumasted sa akin ay pangit? Of course, not!
Apparently, other bloggers took Mr. Cu’s quote out of context. The line uttered by Mr. Cu did not suit their moral taste and quickly imposed a harsh judgment on the guy. Before you know it, the blog hit Twitter and Facebook and boom! – Mr. Cu is now an “uncouth” CEO. Wow. How would you feel if you were misquoted and misjudged without the benefit of the doubt.
We always talk about the “great power” of social media – the power to influence, to reach out, to engage, to make ourselves heard… and less is spoken about, as Peter Parker would say, the “great responsibility” that comes with that kind of power.
A blogger’s own conviction can actually destroy one man’s reputation even though the facts are not yet clear. Is Mr. Cu really the man these bloggers portrayed him to be because of one quote that displeased them?
If you have a Facebook account or actively engage with others on Twitter, you must already know that social media isn’t just a force to be reckoned with… but a venue where fun things happen!
It gets even better when you actually know the people you engage with on a personal level. That’s what tweetups are for. It gives everyone the opportunity to know more about the people you chat with beyond what their profile pics will ever reveal.
I’ve been to quite a number of tweetups already and every one of ’em has been a blast!
It may be intimidating for others to not know anyone at first but don’t let nerves get the best of you. Just keep in mind that everyone attending a tweetup has at one time or another been an uneasy stranger during his/her first attendance. Don’t fret! People are extra friendly and accommodating. Believe me, hanging out on Twitter after being in one of these tweetups makes the experience of being online extra fun and more enjoyable.
Tweetups are also awesome “networking” opportunities – explore business openings, find sideline jobs, heck… even discover your long lost soulmate in the process!
Just come… Come for curiosity’s sake… stay for the fun.
That being said… get ready for a major tweetup on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 4:00PM!
If there was any time in your life that you were planning to drop by a tweetup… this is absolutely the best time to go.
It’ll be BIG! It’ll be FUN! And it’ll be WONDERFUL!
Everyone will be here… know tweeps from all walks of life and be surprised by how many friends you’ll make before the night is through.
Head over to this site and signup. Nevertheless, you can still come over and attend even without signing up. Attendance is absolutely FREE!
The organizer of this most anticipated event is #TweetupManila and their official Facebook page can be found here. #TweetupManila’s twitter account is @TweetupMNL
Mark the date, tweeps – It happens this Saturday, June 30, 2012. Tower One & Exchange Plaza Fountain Area, Ayala Triangle, Ayala Avenue, Makati City. The venue is impossible to miss… since it’s open-air, the place can be seen along Ayala Avenue.
Here’s a map to guide you to the place in case you’re not familiar with Makati or easily get confused (just like me!):
The best and the brightest personalities in Philippine social media take center stage once again as Globe’s [email protected] Awards 2012 kicks off!
My wife and I were invited to the event’s launch which was held at buddha-bar, Kalayaan, Makati City last April 25, 2012. It was the happening-est place in the entire metro.
Everyone who is anyone in the Philippine social media scene was present. You Just know that something important was going to happen.
It was great seeing old friends and new faces alike. Everyone was either busy mingling, moving about or clicking away on their smartphones doing real-time tweets and FB status updates on what was taking place during the launch.
It’s always awesome to hang out with people whom you share the same passion with. Conversations are never dull and always engaging.
Just like the celebrities and personalities in attendance, food and drinks were in absolute abundance. I kid you not… all sorts of food and beverages just kept on coming. *burp!* Excuse me! Hehehe…
The launch was hosted mainly by eventologist, all-around-good-guy (and Instagram addict), Tim Yap.
