Friends of mine as well as those who have been following me on social media and on television know that I lost my mother to breast cancer.
Cancer is not new to my family, whether from my side or my wife’s. We both have a history of relatives who have succumbed to this dreaded disease. And while all of us wouldn’t want to meet a similar fate, most of the time it is beyond our control. A huge factor that affects our predisposition to the “Big C” is genetics.
Mom and me :)My mother getting cancer gives me much reason to be concerned. Here’s the tricky thing, though… while it may be possible for cancer not to manifest in my lifetime, it may still be possible for me to pass on this genetic trait down to my children. The same goes for my wife.
I have always admired Globe’s wonderful efforts in helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters. You may not be aware, but Globe is constantly giving back in a whole lot of ways. Building homes for Yolanda victims, helping raise schools in provinces, as well as creating opportunities for fellow Filipinos.
With Globe Tattoo’s recent partnership with NBA Cares, I knew that it only meant greater things for all of us. Apart from better promos and NBA related offerings, visits from NBA superstars would become a common thing. And boy was I not mistaken.
Just days after their landmark partnership, I was invited to be a part of the Globe Tattoo x NBA Cares Basketball Clinic which was to be conducted by NBA star, Richard “RIP” Hamilton.
Richard Clay “Rip” Hamilton (born February 14, 1978) is an American professional basketball player He last played for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Hamilton has also previously played for the Washington Wizards and the Detroit Pistons. A three time All-Star, Hamilton was an instrumental part of the Pistons’ 2004 NBA championship, and their run of six straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances from 2003 to 2008. -Wikipedia
The Globe Tattoo x NBA Cares Basketball Clinic was set at Brgy. Buayang Bato, Mandaluyong.
Being an NBA fan myself, naturally, I said yes with no hesitation! I brought my 17 year old son as well since he shares the same passion for basketball as I do.
Kids getting ready to meet Rip Hamilton and play ball
Upon arriving, you could immediately feel the air of excitement inside the covered court.
I’ve been to different kinds of spas and clinics and I’ve also tried all sorts of stress relieving treatments as the nature of my business demands.
But nothing, in my opinion, would prepare me for the uniquely different kind of experience I was about to go through at a fairly young holistic center down south.
The place is called, Centro Holistico.
Centro Holistico is a cozy and very quiet establishment located at the 2/F of Commercenter, Alabang.
I can’t wait to tell (and show) you how my first visit turned out. So, please… stick around and read on. It’s quite exciting.
