My son, Ralph, is going away soon — and I’m having a hard time coming to terms with it.
You see, Ralph has long been preparing for his first job as part of the cabin crew of an airline company. For those who aren’t aware, he applied for the job last year when we heard that this airline company was hiring in Manila.
For those curious, the airline company’s headquarters where my son will be training and working at is located in Malaysia. This is where our son would be based for two (2) years once he starts his job.
If you’ve been following me on social media, you probably already know that I recently visited Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. I went there as part of an entourage that celebrated the launch of AirAsia’s direct flight from Manila to Ho Chi Minh.
As public figures and personalities, there are a good number of us who don’t really comprehend and grasp the full extent of our influence and impact in the lives of our fans, supporters, and followers.
When I started seriously vlogging as of late, I did it as a way of expressing myself better and to share a little bit more of my everyday life. I wanted a new means to connect with my fans and supporters. I knew through comments and messages that I was, in my own little way, giving joy and happiness to many. But the true scope of my impact to some of my followers wasn’t all too clear to me — until now.
Sinigang! OMG… just the mere name of this dish excites me every single time.
I’ve always loved this popular Filipino staple, especially when it is made extra sour! It has a frenzy of ingredients, loads of nutrients, and an explosion of flavors in every spoonful. I don’t think I know any Pinoy who doesn’t enjoy a bowl of deliciously hot sinigang.
My kids enjoying Sinigang. (Photo courtesy of thetummytraveler.ph)We’ve grown to love traditional versions of this incredible dish such as Sinigang na Baboy (pork), Sinigang na Hipon (shrimp), and Sinigang na Bangus (milkfish). And while these sinigang best-sellers will always remain close to our hearts, did you know that there are restaurants out there that have dared to think out of the box, creating their own unique versions of our beloved sour and savory soup?
Mother’s Day… that special time of the year when moms around the world are honored, recognized and appreciated for their unconditional love, unwavering vigilance and outstanding example.
This year, I wanted to surprise the mother of my two kids (my wife, of course!) with something extra special. Instead of the usual dine out, I figured it would make her more happy if I personally prepared a Mother’s Day “merienda” for her. Nothing extravagant, though, because I can’t cook complicated dishes… but enough to impress her, I hope (crossing fingers).
So, here’s what I did…
Earlier today, I pretended to be craving for something to eat. Since I can’t leave the house for no good reason (and since my wife easily gets suspicious), I had to take her with me to the grocery. We bought a few ingredients as well as some toiletries just to throw her off.
As soon as we returned home and just as I predicted, it was time for my wife’s usual afternoon nap (aka “beauty rest”). Great! This was the perfect window for me to prepare her surprise Mother’s Day meal!
I decided to prepare the following dishes for her: Salmon Cream Cheese Canapés, Spaghetti in Red Sauce (cooked using the Electrolux Induction Cooker) & Melon Milkshake (using the Electrolux Powermix SILENT EBR5050 Blender). It was a very fun and delightful experience.
Watch the video below to see how my Mother’s Day surprise worked out. Happy viewing!
Yesterday, I held my “Project Wonderful” campaign/contest.
I asked my followers on Twitter to share good vibes to family and friends by tweeting them and sending them positive thoughts using the hashtag, #ProjectWonderful.
I had two (2) cool items to giveaway so I was going to pick two (2) winners naturally.

And as much as I’d like to make all you guys winners, I have to pick ONLY TWO.

Up for grabs is this good lookin’ HOUSE OF MARLEY Headphones!
Hey everyone. I just wanna invite all of you to catch me this Monday (January 13, 2014) on The Medyo Late Night Show with Jojo A. It airs at 12:30AM on the show’s new home network – GMA-7.
It’s gonna be all sorts of fun. Plenty of stories, impromptu singing and laughter.
The other day, I was in Morong, Bataan, to tape a few episodes for GMA-7‘s new afternoon fantaserye, “Home Sweet Home”.
It was fun and different! How different? Well, as you can see in the picture, I was made up to look like the king of a tribe – complete with tattoos and makeup. Together with me during that particular taping day were Jake Vargas, Bea Binene, Ricky Davao, Mark Solis, Gerard Madrid, as well as my co-Survivor castaway “katribos”, Maey Bautista and Arthur Solinap.
Hope you watch out for my episodes this coming week.
“Home Sweet Home” airs every weekday right before “24 Oras”.
