It’s just so sad when your desire to help those in need becomes the very avenue criminal elements use to do their dirty work.
The story I’m about to tell you comes from a friend of mine who experienced firsthand (JUST LAST NIGHT) the new modus operandi of criminals and robbers going around busy roads filled with vehicles stopped in traffic.
My friend was along Kalayaan Avenue in Makati around 8PM, stuck in traffic. Alone in his car, a small kid taps on his window asking for money and food.
This is totally random… or maybe not.
I just want to share a video of an old song entitled, “Kanlungan”, which I absolutely love composed by Rom Dongeto and performed by, in my opinion, one of the best singer/songwriters in the country – Noel Cabangon.
This video was from the coverage of the TulongPH benefit concert for Super Typhoon Yolanda victims.
I love Filipino folk music… perhaps also because I’m such a sucker for nostalgia which this song speaks so much of. The song which talks about reminiscing and going back home also takes on a deeper meaning now, given that it is being performed for countless Pinoys who are suffering and have lost everything because of the devastation brought by Yolanda.
Enjoy the video below…
Never fails to bring tears to my eyes for some strange reason. It seems to sing straight to my heart. Beautiful song.
