Moms. They’re wonderful in all sorts of ways. They look after you and love you to a fault. They work 24/7… even to the point of exhaustion. They give so much of themselves without complaining. And they somehow know what you’re thinking, feeling, and going through even without telling them.
It’s here! One of the most (if not THE most) anticipated Android devices of 2018 — the Samsung Galaxy Note 9! And it’s got a ton of wonderful features that’ll really make you want to get your hands on it soonest!
I recently attended the Samsung Local Unpacked Event which was held at the Marriott Hotel Manila this evening. And since the actual launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was done in a different country with a different time zone, we folks here in Manila had to stay up quite late in the evening to watch the actual live-stream. So, Samsung prepared a function room at the hotel for us and made us comfortable and ready for the event.
I finally did it! I tried Durian! Much to the non-stop and persistent convincing of my wife to try it at least once.
During our recent trip to Davao City (last week), she figured there was no better time to do a Durian Challenge. So, with the participation of my wife and our very good friend, Mae Ilagan of “When In Manila”, I finally mustered up the courage to take on the notorious fruit known for its strong pungent smell.
The Durian Challenge was a success in a way — considering I did eat the fruit.
The outcome, however, is a totally different story as you will see on the video. LOL!
Sinigang! OMG… just the mere name of this dish excites me every single time.
I’ve always loved this popular Filipino staple, especially when it is made extra sour! It has a frenzy of ingredients, loads of nutrients, and an explosion of flavors in every spoonful. I don’t think I know any Pinoy who doesn’t enjoy a bowl of deliciously hot sinigang.
We’ve grown to love traditional versions of this incredible dish such as Sinigang na Baboy (pork), Sinigang na Hipon (shrimp), and Sinigang na Bangus (milkfish). And while these sinigang best-sellers will always remain close to our hearts, did you know that there are restaurants out there that have dared to think out of the box, creating their own unique versions of our beloved sour and savory soup?
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud…”
You probably already know this popular verse in the bible — 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — because it is often recited during weddings as a declaration of love, a reminder of what love truly means and how we must act towards one another. Yes, love is many things… and many things, love isn’t as well.
But in a marriage, apart from all the things that love is and what it holds true, love also brings out the best in both individuals. Love isn’t stagnant. It constantly moves and allows us to find wonderful and creative ways to stoke the fire within us in order to make old things new again — even a dying relationship.
In this particular chapter and verse of the bible, it is best understood in the line, “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”Always perseveres.
We get discouraged and feel like giving up sometimes… especially when we are faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges and setbacks. But all it takes to get us right back on track is a good look around to see that other people have bigger mountains to move and harder obstacles to overcome — and yet they continue to press on.
It has been said time and again… What you lack physically, you make up for in heart. It sounds so cliché already and yet there is a reason why it lingers on — because the saying holds true.
I’m a huge fan of Grab. Whether it’s GrabCar, GrabTaxi, GrabExpress, GrabBike or GrabHeli. There really is no downside to any of Grab’s services and I’m sure those who have also experienced its convenience will easily agree with me.
In case you’re one of those who still take the cab more often than GrabTaxi, allow me – or Grab, rather – to “drive” the message home (pardon the pun) through their miniseries of fun short videos starring Alex Gonzaga entitled, “Misadventures of Alex”.
GrabTaxi’s Misadventures of Alex shows the different benefits of booking a GrabTaxi instead of taking regular ones. The episodes are very entertaining and quite amusing. In the end, if you think about it… there really is a huge amount of truth in the scenarios depicted on each video which we can easily relate to.
So, GRAB some popcorn (or whatever junkfood makes you happy) and enjoy all the episodes of the Misadventures of Alex right below.
For a good majority of people, there is nothing more relaxing than a day spent destressing by way of retail therapy aka “shopping”!
And there’s no better place, perhaps, to go gaga over great finds than in the beautiful island of Guam where they are currently having their Shop Guam Festival – the largest shopping campaign in the region.
I know this for a fact since I was just recently there to join the Guam Ko’Ko’ Road Race Half-Marathon and Ekiden Relay 2015. The Shop Guam Festival had only kicked off then. True enough, during my visit, there were great finds and ridiculously huge discounts in almost every store you enter.
Now, in order to create more awareness and further highlight this must-not-miss festival, the Guam Visitors Bureau (Guam’s official tourism agency) together with former Canadian Idol contestant and one of YouTube’s biggest breakout stars, Mikey Bustos, have come up with a hilarious music video parody that showcases the awesome things you can experience (and buy, of course) during the Shop Guam Festival.
In his latest parody released recently on Facebook and Youtube, Mikey Bustos once again entertained the world with wacky puns and funny antics. Arranged to the tune of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, Mikey made a video about a girl named “Carmela” who loves to shop – especially on her payday! Carmela loves to shop so much, they had to travel to Guam to do it, considering that it is the Asia and Pacific region’s most popular shopping destination.
We are a family of five in our household – me, my wife, our two kids, and my father.
One of the usual challenges of being in a family with different tastes is reaching a compromise in the kind of television shows or movies each of us would want to watch together.
Just imagine… sharing one TV over dinner (or lunch) would mean all of us having to agree on a common show. If there were any other good shows airing at the same time, well, tough luck.
Same goes for movies.
More often than not, It gets quite difficult trying to reach a compromise on what flick to watch. I love scary films, my wife hates it. My daughter enjoys girly flicks and kiddie animated features, my son doesn’t.
And because we have work while the kids have school and other activities, finding the right time to catch our favorite shows becomes futile – either our schedules get in the way or we are already too tired to stay awake to catch what’s on TV.
I’m sure some of you, especially those with families of their own can relate.
Thankfully, now I found a way to keep everyone happy by giving them the opportunity to watch their favorite local and international television shows and movies anytime, anywhere.
All thanks to a nifty service I recently discovered called “HOOQ” (pronounced “hook”).
I’m really excited to share this with all of you because you might find yourselves in the same boat as I am. And if you share the same concerns and frustrations as I do, you will most likely consider this a godsend.
In a nutshell, HOOQ is an online entertainment service that gives my family access to an incredibly vast selection of television shows and movies – local and international. That’s more than 10,000 videos right in the palm of our hands for as low as P199. Yes, you read that right – P199!
I’ve always believed that each and every one of us, no matter the stature or where we are in life, can create great change if we just come together. Change for the better.
If we all just unite our efforts for a common cause, amazing things can truly happen.
We’ve seen it happen time and again, haven’t we?
It is with this belief and my deep desire to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters that I am encouraging you to join countless others, including myself, by being one with us in Globe’s Project 1 Phone (#Project1Phone) advocacy.
