I just had one of the longest dinners last night. How long, you ask? The 14-course meal (YES! 14!) commenced at 8:00PM and ended at 1:00AM. It was so overwhelmingly good that I am feeling the effects of it till now. Wow. Wait for my blog post all about it in a day or two. *burp!* Excuse me…
It’s one thing to be able to see one of your favorite artists perform live in concert… and it’s a totally different thing to be able to not only watch a performance, but to be in the same room with your favorite artist and to have the opportunity to spend time and talk to him/her.
That’s exactly the kind of moment I had last night when my wife and I had the chance to watch Ms. Patti Austin practice her songs with the band for her concert later this evening at the Araneta Coliseum.
It was so surreal. I cannot even begin to describe how awesome it was. To be in a room with only a handful of people inside and to be right next to her while she happily goes through each musical number is just unbelievable.
The songs she ran through were the very songs I grew up listening to back in the ’80s… “All Behind Us Now”, “How Do You Keep The Music Playing”, “If I Believe”, “Say You Love Me”, and so much more.
I love to eat. I can pretty much tell when something tastes good. Though, I may not be technical when it comes to a dish’s intricate qualities, my gusto and enthusiasm more than makes up for it (I hope!).
Just recently, my wife and I were invited to join an awesome group of buddies (and “hardcore” foodies) at “BOON TONG KEE” along Tomas Morato Ave. for an evening of fun, friendship and, you guessed it… FOOD! A ridiculous abundance of it, actually! I’ll get to that later.
BOON TONG KEE is a fairly popular Singaporean restaurant here in the metro which some of you may have already been to. They already have branches at Mall Of Asia and Powerplant Mall, Rockwell. This Tomas Morato branch is Boon Tong Kee’s newest baby which opened just last month (July).
As far back as I can remember, my dad used to always carry with him a good ol’ Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Being the tinkerer that he is and his love for nifty useful tools, it isn’t any wonder he would own something as cool as that.
Imagine having a whole slew of tools right in your pocket – a screwdriver, a knife, scissors, a mini saw, bottle and can opener, tweezers, toothpick and so much more.
Back in the ’80s, there weren’t a lot of China-made imitations and cheap knockoffs. Almost everything sold in stores were authentic and original – clothes, shoes, etc. When it came to Swiss Army Knives, there was only Victorinox. Although these cool Victorinox products were quite pricey even back then, I’ve always known that quality and impeccable craftsmanship comes at a premium. You’ve probably heard of the saying, “Good things don’t come cheap…”, right? There is some truth to that.
Nowadays, Victorinox not only makes Swiss Army Knives… they are now one of the most trusted brands when it comes to luggage, watches, bags and travel accessories.
It goes without saying that I am a huuuge fan of Victorinox. That’s why I was so excited to be part of Victorinox’s posh cocktail party and launch of their exclusive loyalty card.
Guys, Nuffnang Philippines is accepting donations for victims of typhoon Maring from August 22 (Thursday) until August 30 (Friday) – 9am-6pm.
You can contribute food, water, clothes, footwear, medicine, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits to those who are in need.
Donations will be given to the Philippine Red Cross.
Let us once again prove to the world that the Filipino spirit is waterproof!
Maring. This is probably what corrupt politicians want… a diversion from the PDAF scandal. Also because us Filipinos, tend to be forgetful (and forgiving) of grave offenses – to a fault.
Billions of pesos could have truly made flood control a reality in all parts of the Philippines years ago. Food for the needy. Casualties prevented.
Warmth. Shelter. Provisions.
Remember the real issue here. After this calamity, NEVER EVER FORGET.
Lest we all look like fools again and history repeats itself.
Last Tuesday, Globe Telecom and Philippine Airlines announced some really good news during their media event at the InterContinental Manila… and I was there to know all about it.
Globe has been pretty aggressive promoting their “Globe Rewards” program as of late. In fact, retail brand Bench, fastfood chain KFC, and gadget store Memo Express are now part of Globe Rewards’ growing list of merchants accepting Globe rewards points as a form of payment. Current list of partner merchants include Ayala Malls Cinemas, Figaro Coffee Company, Wendy’s, Sunglass Hut, Enchanted Kingdom, Rose Pharmacy, and Petron.
With the addition of Bench, KFC, and Memo Express, Globe Rewards has grown its partner merchants to ten (10), the biggest number of partners for a telco loyalty program to date.
Just a few days ago I was really looking forward to ordering additional SDRAM for my iMac… which I did. I made my online order on July 26, 2013 on Amazon.com by using my GCash American Express Virtual Pay.
FINALLY! It’s here! And it didn’t take too long!
All it took was a mere 13 days total – from ordering online to its arrival right at my doorstep. Wondering why I ordered online instead of purchasing it locally? Simple. It’s cheaper online and I’m guaranteed that what I’m getting is authentic.
