I noticed that there has been so much talk as of late about Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour in Manila. Unfortunately, some of these conversations have been about the event’s ticket prices which some consider to be quite expensive.
A lot of bloggers, as if in perfect sync and seeming orchestration, have suddenly published posts that suspiciously have the same tone and the same question. These individuals have been asking, “What’s so wonderful about spending Php 60,000.00 for a concert?”, followed by a call for people to join a particular promo instead, with the possibility to watch Madonna for free. The ploy it seems is to convince readers to believe that theirs is “the better choice”.
But, my question is… is it REALLY the better choice?
Let’s break it down for a second and see if what they say truly holds water.
We Filipinos are a people that love Christmas time a whole lot. In fact, we celebrate this wonderful season the longest compared to other countries. When the “ber” months start creeping in, houses and streets are immediately adorned with lights and lanterns to signify the start of this most anticipated part of the year. You could also immediately hear Christmas songs playing on the radio and inside malls.
There’s just something about Christmas songs that uplift our spirits and gives us that certain warm fuzzy feeling.
I enjoy listening to Christmas tunes and yuletide carols as much as the next guy. That’s why I’ve packed my Spotify app with a good number of their recently launched Spotify Holiday Playlists. It’s a sure fire way to get anyone into that merry mood.
I have a good number of Spotify music soundtrack favorites which I listen to on a regular basis. Do you love music soundtracks, too?
You see, I love watching movies and television shows. Who doesn’t, right? I enjoy wonderful plots, superb acting, amazing direction and great scriptwriting. But apart from that, I go absolutely crazy over beautiful soundtracks. The kind of music that magnifies the intensity and emotion of any given scene. Heck… that’s why I ended up becoming a musical director and started scoring music for movie and television shows.
Whether it’s a swelling symphony leading the scene to its inevitable conclusion or an awesome cover of a gritty alternative song giving a particular sequence added height and tension, music is the absolute soul of any motion picture. Great editing only goes so far. Without music, there is hardly any life to it.
So, it goes without saying that apart from the usual pop and rock tracks I enjoy, I also have a good number of soundtrack albums on my phone that I love listening to. It makes for great relaxation wherever I am and it easily sets a wonderful ambiance whether at home kicking back in the living room area or inside the car during a long drive.
But stuffing music files with tons and tons of MBs into my phone isn’t my kind of thing. I love mobile apps all too much to sacrifice precious space just for mp3 and m4a files.
Thank God for Spotify, I am no longer at the mercy of my phone’s built-in storage space. If I had to cram all my favorite songs and playlists into my smartphone, I’d probably have no more space for anything else.
All roads lead to a musical wonderland called “Wanderland” (Yep! Don’t be confused…)!
Globe Wanderland is an awesome music fest that happens on May 17, 2014 at the Globe Circuit Events Ground, Makati. This very happenin’ event is headlined by some of the hottest acts around – Paper Kites, Royal Concept, Architecture in Helsinki, Lucy Rose, Last Dinosaurs, Woody Pitney, The Ransom Collective, Brisom, Techy Romantics, and Chocolate Grass.
Globe Wanderland changes the music fest game
We’re all used to attending concerts with artists already pre-selecting their performance set list. This time, in a very different yet amusing twist, Globe shakes up the way songs are performed on the Globe Wanderland stage.
I love music. Any music. Well… Almost any music, that is.
I love listening to music while biding the time. I enjoy music in the background when I go to sleep. Music keeps me company and paces my stride everytime I do my regular run around the neighborhood to stay fit.
I love music just because. I’m sure you do, too.
Whatever your reason (or numerous reasons) for loving music, there is cause to rejoice and be excited.
Spotify, the awesome online music service that has been immensely popular abroad and oh, so elusive to Filipinos has finally arrived and is now available! Woohoo! Read more
Remember Patti Austin‘s recent concert here in the Philippines just a couple of months ago? I most certainly do! I actually had the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with her during her practice session (you can read all about it and watch the video by clicking here).
Pinoys love songs that really touch the heart and I guess that’s one of the many reasons why we all love Patti as well.
If you’re one of the countless Patti Austin fans here in the Philippines, you should get excited because she is coming back THIS MONTH to do not one, but TWO benefit concerts to help victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
“Never judge a book by its cover”… you may have heard this a thousand times.
Maybe you’ve come across this wise saying time and again because it always holds true.
I have no doubt that this very thought will be the first thing that comes to mind when you meet the “MOVE S Wired” by NudeAudio.
Sure it’s small. Yeah, it looks very simple. But haven’t you ever noticed… most of the smallest people you probably know are the ones who actually speak (and act) the loudest? Read more
I just want to share a video of an old song entitled, “Kanlungan”, which I absolutely love composed by Rom Dongeto and performed by, in my opinion, one of the best singer/songwriters in the country – Noel Cabangon.
This video was from the coverage of the TulongPH benefit concert for Super Typhoon Yolanda victims.
I love Filipino folk music… perhaps also because I’m such a sucker for nostalgia which this song speaks so much of. The song which talks about reminiscing and going back home also takes on a deeper meaning now, given that it is being performed for countless Pinoys who are suffering and have lost everything because of the devastation brought by Yolanda.
Enjoy the video below…
Never fails to bring tears to my eyes for some strange reason. It seems to sing straight to my heart. Beautiful song.
OneRepublic was amaaaazing! Theirs was one of the better concerts in Manila for 2013.
My son and I absolutely enjoyed watching them. It was a great bonding time for me and him.
For those who weren’t able to watch the concert (or for those who just want to relive the excitement), here is a video I took of the FULL SONG performance of “Apologize” by OneRepublic last night during their Manila concert.
There is also a short mashup done in the middle of the video of the songs, “We Found Love” & “Yellow”. Pretty cool!
Awesome, right? I’d like to thank Nuffnang Philippines for the amazing concert! I have another video of OneRepublic’s performance which I’ll be posting tomorrow. Watch out for it. Cheers!
