The globally critically-acclaimed film Birdshot continues to gain recognition as it launches worldwide in top video streaming platform Netflix. This is another exciting development for Philippine cinema as the award-winning indie film, directed by Mikhail Red and presented by TBA Studios, Globe Studios and Pelikula Red, can soon be viewed by audiences around the world.
I’m super excited about this because I’ve been a long time avid Netflix subscriber.
It’s really amazing how the internet has revolutionized our way of life in every way possible, wouldn’t you agree?
Apart from the ways our connected world has changed the way we work, play, learn and socialize, it has even incredibly altered our viewing habits.
I remember back when I was a kid, we only had 5 television channels (2, 4, 7, 9 and 13). 24-hour programming, let alone cable television were remotely even figments of one’s imagination. Apart from that, cartoon programs were only shown every 4PM in the afternoon and during Saturday mornings. Bummer, right?
Today, not only has 24-hour cable programming become common even to the regular joe, it is actually slowly losing its market all thanks to the way high-speed broadband internet connections have changed the way we consume entertainment content.
In our household, our family hardly watches regular television programs on cable television anymore. We don’t find ourselves rushing home, trying to catch the start of a particular show anymore. That’s because everyone in our house has gone the way of STREAMING content — all thanks to our recently installed Globe at Home high-speed broadband internet connection.
There’s just something about Disney movies that bring out the child within us. The way their stories enchant us, matched with the kind of musical masterpieces and cinematography that effortlessly takes our breath away and fills us with wonder.
That’s why it’s no wonder that from the moment Disney released a teaser of a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, it has immediately become one of the most anticipated movies of 2017.
Many, if not all of us, grew up watching Disney animated features. And seeing them finally transform these childhood favorites into live-action adaptations is like a dream come true.
Hacksaw Ridge is a film that I’ve been meaning to see for quite sometime now. The first time I saw its trailer, I made a mental note to put this movie on my must-watch list.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to enjoy an advanced screening of Hacksaw Ridge just recently together with my wife and a couple of friends.
I love war movies. Especially those that are set during World War II. The gritty, gory and intense ground battles, especially when depicted unapologetically, make for one very real and in-your-face retelling. But another reason why I was drawn to this film is because of the stars involved in it — Andrew Garfield, Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington. Apart from that, Mel Gibson, who happens to be an amazing actor himself, is the motion picture’s director. And given how “The Passion of the Christ” was so amazingly directed, I had very high hopes for Hacksaw Ridge.
I am such a Star Wars geek. I love everything about this franchise’s mythos. And as an avid fan of this beloved epic movie series, I try not to miss any opportunity to “get my geek on”, so to speak.
Whether it’s trying to be first in line when the movie opens or scouring the mall finding new merchandise to add to my geeky collections, I’m in.
Last December 10, 2016 was no exception.
With bated breath, I awaited the unveiling of the new Rogue One Mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa. Yes, I braved the horrendous traffic and hordes of people to witness this pretty amazing work of art.
One of the most anticipated superhero films is finally upon us! Doctor Strange!
From the time Marvel made the official announcement that they would be making a Doctor Strange movie and that Benedict Cumberbatch would be cast as the Sorcerer Supreme, I eagerly waited for this day to come. During the long wait, month after month I made do with whatever behind-the-scene photos and teasers I would chance upon and find on the internet.
I had the awesome opportunity to attend the advanced screening of Doctor Strange just a couple of days ago at the IMAX Theatre at SM Mall of Asia. My joy and excitement couldn’t be contained as I counted down the days.
I’ve always been a comic geek. I grew up collecting comic books, reading them over and over again and escaping into my own fantasy. This is probably the reason why I’m part of the demographic that’s sincerely hoping for a close-to-faithful retelling of Doctor Strange’s origin story. Thankfully, Marvel did not disappoint.
In a blockbuster move during the recently held “Wonderful World with Globe X” (WWGX), Globe Telecom unleashed a flurry of spectacularly jaw-dropping announcements that will undoubtedly redefine the mobile and Philippine entertainment landscape.
During WWGX, Globe Telecom revealed the creation of Globe Studios and Globe Live which are designed to produce original shows, live events, and engaging world-class content that are fit for today’s discerning customers.
During the same evening, Globe Telecom revealed the impressive line-up of its new international content partners and improved broadband plans for a complete and immersive entertainment lifestyle.
WWGX was just absolutely packed with incredible news, so let’s get right to it, shall we…?
I was recently invited to a special private screening of a new locally produced film entitled, “Whistleblower”, which is scheduled to be released in Cinemas on April 6, 2016.
This Unitel produced film which stars Nora Aunor, Cherry Pie Picache & Angelica Panganiban is a political suspense thriller that seems all too timely considering how close we are to electing new leaders for our country.
If you got absofrickinlutely stoked seeing the poster of the upcoming Avengers Infinity War poster. You are going to go crazy watching the Avengers Infinity War teaser which Marvel showcased during their brief event earlier.
Granted that this Avengers Infinity War teaser was recorded using a cellphone, it still is a decent copy. And the sound of screaming fans in the background just adds to the overwhelming excitement most of us comic geeks already have.
