Last weekend, my family and I wanted to make the most of our family’s time before our son flies off abroad for work (In case you aren’t aware, I wrote all about that on a previous post). So, we took the opportunity to enjoy a little quality family time not too far away from the metro by spending a couple of days in a resort located in Batangas that we’ve been meaning to visit for quite sometime now.Read more
Last year, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my family’s (Dreyfus) hometown — a quaint little town called, Oberschaeffolsheim, in the Alsace region of France (Yup. We’re French!). I wanted to learn more about my great grandfather’s place of birth and this place where he grew up before migrating to the Philippines.
It gave me the chance to explore the sights, sounds, and flavors of this beautiful village.Read more
Time flies so fast. If you don’t stop to smell the roses, so to speak, life will pass you by without you even noticing.
Just last week, I shared with all of you (through a blog post) just how saddened I am that my son will soon be leaving us to train and work in a different country. This time around, I am sharing with all of you another experience that just proves how fleeting life is.Read more
My son, Ralph, is going away soon — and I’m having a hard time coming to terms with it.
You see, Ralph has long been preparing for his first job as part of the cabin crew of an airline company. For those who aren’t aware, he applied for the job last year when we heard that this airline company was hiring in Manila.
For those curious, the airline company’s headquarters where my son will be training and working at is located in Malaysia. This is where our son would be based for two (2) years once he starts his job.Read more
I love competitive sports. It’s something that has always been a part of my life ever since I was a kid. Perhaps many of the reasons why I am who I am now is because of the many values I have learned by engaging in sports. Values such as determination, persistence and motivation.
That’s why when I had kids of my own, I made sure they would develop a deep love for sports as well. Until now, I encourage them every chance I get. Of course, it goes without saying that the physical aspect of sports has its health benefits as well.
For the longest time, I’ve been trying to find the perfect type of sport that we can engage in together. Something that we would enjoy participating in and become one of our best ways to bond as a family.
I believe I may have found just the thing.
This leads me to the real topic of this blog post… Read more
Just recently, our friends from Gold Seas Tuna Chunks asked me and my family to take on their fun mystery challenge. Being the competitive family that we are, naturally we immediately said YES!
So, here’s what happened… Gold Seas Tuna Chunks whisked us away to Noni’s Resort in beautiful Batangas to enjoy an amazing glamping experience where our challenge was also going to take place.
During our overnight getaway, The DREYS (that’s us!) had a delightfully unforgettable time bonding over jokes, laughter and, of course, TUNA!

My wife and I are very competitive in every single thing we do. We love to outdo one another so much that it becomes hilarious at times.
So, it wasn’t any wonder that when our daughter’s (Isabella) school — Kids World — had their sportsfest last October 21, 2017, we attended the event with our game faces on. Hahaha! I’m always game for a little bit of competition every now and then. So was my wife.
There were lots of fun activities during the sportsfest and I had a great time bonding with Ella’s other schoolmates and classmates, not to mention her teachers and other parents.
My wife just recently turned 41… Yay! “The Dreys” (that’s us!) made sure to celebrate this special occasion by way of a fun and totally spontaneous lunch out at the Araneta Center, Cubao branch of Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot.
One of the main reasons why we chose this place is because my wife absolutely loves Chinese food. And since I’m not really partial to that kind of cuisine (not that I don’t like it, though), we figured that Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot would offer the best of both worlds. She gets her Chinese fix and hotpot goodness (plus points for that!) and I get to enjoy the kind of dishes I love like steak, shrimp tempura and sushi!
And since this was a quick afternoon escape that included every single person in the household, that meant Max — out teacup Pomeranian — had to come along, too. Why? Because no one would be able to watch over him at home while we’re out. Unfortunately, the restaurant we were going to doesn’t allow animals inside. So, we decided to drop Max off at Pet Express located just 10 minutes away by foot from Four Seasons Buffet and Hotpot. Pet Express offers boarding services during operating hours. It was the perfect solution. (They only charge Php50 per hour in case you wanna know.)
I recently took my family on a quick road trip to Nueva Ecija to check out the recently opened branch of Isdaan Floating Restaurant.
Isdaan Floating Restaurant has long been a popular destination and stopover spot for locals and tourists alike. They serve great food and offer up some fun and novelty attractions.
If you’ve already been to their original branch in Tarlac and fell in love with its unique ambiance, you’re surely gonna enjoy Isdaan in Nueva Ecija. It retains the same atmosphere and ambiance that we have come to know.
