It’s really amazing how the internet has revolutionized our way of life in every way possible, wouldn’t you agree?
Apart from the ways our connected world has changed the way we work, play, learn and socialize, it has even incredibly altered our viewing habits.
I remember back when I was a kid, we only had 5 television channels (2, 4, 7, 9 and 13). 24-hour programming, let alone cable television were remotely even figments of one’s imagination. Apart from that, cartoon programs were only shown every 4PM in the afternoon and during Saturday mornings. Bummer, right?
Today, not only has 24-hour cable programming become common even to the regular joe, it is actually slowly losing its market all thanks to the way high-speed broadband internet connections have changed the way we consume entertainment content.
In our household, our family hardly watches regular television programs on cable television anymore. We don’t find ourselves rushing home, trying to catch the start of a particular show anymore. That’s because everyone in our house has gone the way of STREAMING content — all thanks to our recently installed Globe at Home high-speed broadband internet connection.
Streaming has changed our lifestyle for the better
Watching television shows and movies, not to mention listening to music, inside #TheDreys‘ (that’s us!) household are now all “in-demand”. Services such as Netflix, Spotify, HOOQ and NBA League Pass have actually given us a faster, easier and more convenient way of enjoying the kind of entertainment content we want, whenever we want.
And since big LED screens that boast of up to 4K resolution (just like our Devant 50UHV200) have become more affordable and easier to purchase, our home entertainment experiences have incredibly changed all the more.
How do we stream our content to our wide screen LED TV’s, you ask? The answer is simple — Google Chromecast.
I have immediately fallen in love with the Google Chromecast the moment I tried one out myself for the very first time. For those who aren’t quite familiar with the Google Chromecast, this little device is connected to the back of your television via its built-in HDMI cable. It gets its power either from an electrical source (a power adapter comes with every device) or via a USB port at the back of the television unit.
The Chromecast is connected to our devices via wifi. So, any content we access via our smartphones using apps (such as Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, HOOQ, NBA League Pass) can easily be streamed to our wide-screen LED TV’s instantaneously. Imagine… over 1,000,000 videos, shows and movies, all at the tip of your fingers. It’s unbelievably awesome.
Not only has it made our streaming habits more enjoyable, it has made our viewing experience a whole lot more immersive!
My family loves the Google Chromecast so much that I actually installed a Chromecast on every LED TV in our household, all connected to our Globe at Home broadband connection. So, whether we’re inside the bedroom or lounging at the living room, enjoying our favorite shows and movies is just a click away.
Another positive thing that has come out of our shift to streaming content at home is that our family has found more time and better opportunities to bond and spend quality time together while watching shows and movies that we all love.
Enabling our entire household to access streaming content and cast them on our LED TVs has been, perhaps, one of the best decisions I have made.
If you’re looking to improve and soup up your broadband connection, as well as level up your streaming habits at home, you can check out these three awesome devices that Globe at Home is currently offering together with their wonderful broadband packages.
I’m actually looking forward to trying out the new AndroidTV device because I recently learned that it streams 4K content already. This is actually perfect for my Devant UHD (4K) TV. And since streaming 4K content requires a consistently good high-speed broadband internet connection, my recent switch to a Globe at Home subscription is more and more proving to be a solid choice.
I’m soooooo excited to try the AndroidTV! I promise to keep you guys posted on my experience as soon as I get my eager hands on it. Hahaha!
Oh! By the way, in case you were wondering… the new AndroidTV can be bundled with Globe At Home plans 1299 and up, for only an additional P200 per month for 24 months. This comes with six months access to Netflix, HOOQ and NBA League Pass! The AndroidTV is also sold separately in Globe Stores.
Well, here’s to great streaming experiences and better family time ahead!
