I am such a Star Wars geek. I love everything about this franchise’s mythos. And as an avid fan of this beloved epic movie series, I try not to miss any opportunity to “get my geek on”, so to speak.
Whether it’s trying to be first in line when the movie opens or scouring the mall finding new merchandise to add to my geeky collections, I’m in.
Last December 10, 2016 was no exception.
With bated breath, I awaited the unveiling of the new Rogue One Mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa. Yes, I braved the horrendous traffic and hordes of people to witness this pretty amazing work of art.
Getting my geek on by visiting the Rogue One mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa
During the unveiling, SM had invited some cool cosplayers who graced this fun occasion donning their badass Star Wars costumes. Many of them came in Stormtrooper outfits while one of them arrived as an Imperial Death Trooper.
Not familiar with an Imperial Death Trooper? That’s because these menacing characters are only seen in Rogue One and in no other Star Wars installment. If you’ve already seen the film, you probably already know who they are.
Of course, these galactic empire soldiers would be lost without their ruthless leader (and the most intimidating figure in the Star Wars saga) — Darth Vader — who also happens to be the most anticipated character in the new film!
I had tons of fun taking photos with these cosplayers in front of the wonderfully created Rogue One mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa.
I even had the opportunity to meet the awesome folks who made the mural themselves.
And, oh! I even got to be a part of a mannequin challenge which many other friends of ours also participated in.
Check out the final video of our hilariously fun Rogue One Mannequin Challenge below (if you can’t see the video player below, click here)…
Whether you’re a long-time Star Wars fan or have just been recently introduced to its infinite universe, heading to the Rogue One mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa is a great way to hype yourself up for the newest film in this ever-expanding galactic saga.
All set for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is an all-new epic adventure from Lucasfilm. It tells of a story of a group of unlikely heroes that have banded together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who have decided to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, have become part of something greater than themselves.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a film that I fondly call a “midquel” because this story, which focuses on the formation of the Rebel Alliance, takes place right in the middle of the entire saga — a good while after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and immediately before Episode IV: A New Hope.
I am very interested to find out how this film plays out. We all know that the rebels eventually steal the plans to the Death Star because it was referenced in the opening crawl of “A New Hope”, which is a direct continuation of Rogue One. There, we immediately learn that the blueprints have gone missing and was eventually traced by Darth Vader to Princess Leia’s diplomatic ship, the Tantive IV.
It’s been ages since we’ve seen Darth Vader in action. The last time I actually saw him on film was during the last part of Star Wars Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. And he only appears in the movie for a very brief period wherein a badly injured and half-dead Anakin Skywalker is turned by the Emperor into the dreaded Dark Lord.
Hahahaha! Here I am again, enthusiastically rambling non-stop in all my geekiness. LOL! Forgive me if I couldn’t help it. I’m still on a high of galactic proportions because of this epic film.
So, whether you’ve already seen the movie or haven’t yet, bring friends and family over to see the Rogue One mural at the Sky Dome of SM North Edsa. Take pics, do selfies, engage in mannequin challenges yourselves or simply marvel in the artwork which was skillfully created for everyone to enjoy. Just don’t piss Darth Vader off, like I did. LOL!
No doubt, the Rogue One mural is sure to take you back to that place a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away. :)
