Sinigang reinvented – Tasting two unusual versions of sinigang!
Sinigang! OMG… just the mere name of this dish excites me every single time.
I’ve always loved this popular Filipino staple, especially when it is made extra sour! It has a frenzy of ingredients, loads of nutrients, and an explosion of flavors in every spoonful. I don’t think I know any Pinoy who doesn’t enjoy a bowl of deliciously hot sinigang.
Sinigang with a twist!
Feeling daring, yourself? Join me by watching the video below as I hosted a segment on GMA-7’s health show, Pinoy MD. During the show, I checked out two popular restaurants in the metro — MESA at Eastwood Mall and SENTRO 1771 at Capitol Commons — each with their own special kind of sinigang creation which promises to offer our palates something familiar and comforting, yet at the same time deliciously different.
Well, what do you think, folks? Sinigang with a delightful twist! I sure as hell enjoyed the Sinigang na Baboy with Guava and Pineapple as well as the Sinigang na Corned Beef! While both are sinigang dishes, it would be unfair to choose one over the other since each creation has something uniquely different to offer.

The best thing to do is to head on over to both restaurants (just like what I did!) and try both specialties.
Similarly, my wife also made her own unique version of sinigang at home which I absolutely fell in love with — Sinigang sa Pakwan (Watermelon)!

You can check out her recipe here.
Hungry already? Well, I hope you aren’t cutting down on your carbs because sinigang is best paired with LOTS of rice. So, when you dig in, make sure your tummy’s prepared and your diet momentarily on the back burner because the moment you take your first spoonful, it’ll be difficult to hold back. Hahaha!
Tara! Kain na!
