Just recently, I had one of the most unique staycations that has left me completely refreshed and rejuvenated.
Typical staycations that are meant to be a means to escape and de-stress are usually spent in hotels and resorts. There’s nothing wrong with that. I love those kinds of getaways… In fact, my family and I regularly do this kind of activity because it’s great.
But one of my more recent “escapes” proved to be extra special not only because of the incredible experience it provided but also the undeniable positive effect it had on me and my wife.
You see, I recently had the pleasure of spending 2 days (overnight stay) at Nurture Wellness Village to enjoy a different kind of getaway… one that involved a kind of sleepover that was new to me — Glamping!
Glamping is simply a portmanteau of the words glamorous + camping.
This basically means that during glamping, there’s no tent to pitch and no sleeping bag to unroll. Each tent is provided with light and even an electric fan. It’s a great way to experience nature and the outdoors without sacrificing luxury. Exciting, right?!
Oh! By the way… taking a bath and washing up aren’t a concern since Nurture Wellness Village has two very clean and spacious common bathrooms (one for male and another for female) with an ample amount of cubicles each.
But apart from glamping, Nurture Wellness Village also prepared a good number of fun activities and meals that are meant to revive and recharge one’s self holistically and to improve my overall well-being.
Nurture Wellness Village – An escape like no other
We were welcomed by Nurture Wellness Village’s most gracious owner, Ms. Cathy Turvill.
I had a good number of opportunities to talk to her about her passion for wellness and her desire to make everyone aware of just how important it is to care for one’s well-being by connecting with nature and our surroundings and knowing how to avoid unnecessary stresses in life.
During our meals throughout my stay, it was evident that Kale — a “super green” that is incredibly packed with nutrition and considered to be one of the world’s healthiest foods — was highly incorporated into our dishes.
And since all the ingredients needed to prepare the dishes that were served to us come from their very own farm, every meal was guaranteed to be healthy, special and flavorful.
Even their pandesal had bits of kale in them. You wouldn’t know it if you weren’t paying close attention but it is just absolutely amazing.
Check out some of the amazing dishes Nurture Wellness Village delightfully surprised us with.
Our activities during our brief getaway was always filled with fun and friendly banter. Ms. Cathy taught us how to de-stress and relax through self and partner massaging tips, ridding ourselves of negative vibes. We also had really fun morning rituals.
I learned how to sift and crush coffee beans.
Also, we were introduced to the wonders of medicinal plants, fruits and the benefits of juicing. We were taught that everything one may need to improve his/her health and well-being is easily found just around us, provided by nature.
I learned that veggies like malunggay are rich in anti-cancer properties; Garlic, banana and tomatoes are great for the heart; Kangkong, kale and pineapple improve our immune system. It’s just amazing.
Together with other blogger friends, we were divided into two groups wherein we engaged in a hilariously fun salad making contest.
Apart from flavor and creativity, we actually needed to know the of vegetables we were using as well as the kind of properties each ingredient had, because group members were also tasked to explain the health benefits of our uniquely created salad. Challenging!
In the end, it was our group that won the friendly competition. Yay! Too bad, my wife’s group lost to us — twice! Hahaha! (There, there, hon… don’t feel bad. LOL!)
I was also introduced to the beauty of towel art. Nurture Wellness Village happens to be the first to introduce this form of art — and they’re amazingly good at it! Just look!
In the evening, we had a wonderful dinner with a wonderful selection of grilled meat and refreshing drinks at the Salakot Pavillon.
But to top it all off, our nightcap was spent sitting around a pleasant bonfire that complements the cool Tagaytay air, roasting mallows and hotdogs while sharing stories and lots of laughs.
When we all decided to call it a night, I was absolutely excited and looking forward to experiencing the glamping part of my staycation — sleeping inside a tent that pretty much has almost all the comforts of a hotel room.
True enough, my first ever glamping experience was a delight. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. The mattress was delightfully soft and pillows were just right.
There was even ample space inside the tent for our bags. The cool weather only added to the already wonderful evening. Long story short, I slept like a baby — and so did my wife.
The next day offered more of the same kind of fun activities and healthy food.
We also had the pleasure of touring around Nurture Wellness Village’s farm.
At the end of the tour, I had a quick yet very stress-relieving massage.
We capped off our unforgettable staycation at Nurture Wellness Village with a cooking demo and a wonderful lunch over at the main hall at the property located just a couple of meters away from the Village.
I was able to walk around this vast property briefly and saw the different kinds of villas and cottages guests could enjoy staying in.
I look forward to coming back to experience this side of Nurture Wellness Village one of these days.
Well, as they say… all good things come to an end, just like this particular staycation which has truly been beneficial to both my mindset and my overall well-being.
I’d like to thank the amazing people behind Nurture Wellness Village as well as the incredible folks who work tirelessly and passionately, believing in the amazing good they do. You truly have made this place a must-visit destination for the young and old alike.
