I love places and establishments that are amusingly different and offer something unique.
With a ton of restaurants and bars popping up all over the metro, standing out and being memorable is critical in order to become successful. I believe I found one particular location just nearby which I’d like to share with all of you.
The name of the place: 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub
12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub is the coalescence of a group of distinct personalities who have become truly successful in their respective fields, but brought together by common passions – good food and a great appreciation for live music.
With the emergence and popularity of DJ driven clubs and bars nowadays, it’s truly refreshing to find a venue (with an astounding sound system, I might add) that supports and promotes performances of the best bands and amazing musical acts in the industry.
I recently dropped by 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub to check out their dishes, ambiance and live performances. I wasn’t disappointed.
I came in early with my wife and joined the usual fun suspects – my crazy foodie family better known as the KTG.
Everyone was excited because we knew that “The Dawn” was going to be performing that special evening.
True enough, the iconic band was going through a soundcheck when we arrived. Cool.
12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub’s gastronomical offerings
We decided to try out some of the delicious dishes that 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub had to offer. Here are a few of the dishes that really stuck with me not only because of the superb taste but also due to the fact that some of their names were amusingly funny.
The Assistant Manager’s Choice
Hahaha! Obviously a funny take on Shakey’s very popular “Manager’s Choice” pizza. Don’t be fooled though… 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub’s version is incredibly delicious. A must order when you visit.
Yep. It’s a killer in every way. But boy does it kill soooo good. And in case you’re curious to know… it does taste just as good as it looks.
It’s SPAM for pete’s sake! Who the hell doesn’t love Spam?! It just goes well with anything and everything. Perhaps one of the best inventions of mankind… Ok, maybe I’m going a tad overboard. But, geez! SPAM, guys! Dig in! 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub got this right!
Yes. The best of both worlds. It’s a pizza and yet, it’s also an awesome palabok feast. So, in case you were caught between a choice of having one or the other, here’s the answer to your life-changing dilemma. It looks weird, I agree. But the taste is anything but! You just gotta. Trust me on this. Wow.
After Hours Goto Special
Deconstructed and all sorts of wonderful. Trying to find that perfect fix to sober you up? This. Look no further, folks.
Midnight in Pares
It’s pares! A popular Pinoy dish best enjoyed in the wee hours of the morning after a long night of partying and booze.
This is crazy good. Don’t take my word for it. Head over to 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub and rock the night away… afterwards, cap it off with this delicious dish. You can’t go wrong.
12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub also has a good number of desserts to cap off an amazing meal.
Cream-filled banana cream pie topped with whipped cream, chunky peanut butter and crushed Choc-Nut. Did you say, Choc-Nut??? OMG! Sign me up!
Banana walnut bread pudding in butter toffee sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. Wow.
I’d love to talk about the vast variety of alcoholic drinks they also offer but sadly, since I don’t drink, I can’t really tell one concoction from the other.
The Strawberry Mojito, though, looked very inviting.
Hop on over to my wife’s website to know more about the awesome drinks that 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub can easily (and deliciously) whip up.
The good folks behind 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub
So, what makes 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub such a huge hit? Perhaps a lot of it also has to do with the people behind this rockin’ and rollin’ happy place. This cool establishment is owned by several personalities from various industries. Let’s start with Raymund Magdaluyo who is a veteran restaurateur who owns Red Crab and Sumo Sam to name a few. 2 famous vocalists: Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar and Champ Lui Pio of Hale. There’s also Keith Haw of Advance Paper, Jerico Fernando of JB Music and VASK, DJ Tony Toni Bueno of Magic 89.9 and Boys Night Out, Solar Sports TV personality Jinno Rufino, Big Bad Wolf’s Neil Paras, 71 Gramercy and Tipsy Pig’s Neil Arce, Publiko and Universe Mike Gelacio, Prive’s JM Rodriguez, Century Properties GP Reyes. While Yuri Allado of Gallo’s/19East also joins the roster and completing the list and the only rose is Cesca Rivas.
Thank God, these guys finally came together to put up a venue supporting incredible live Filipino musical acts. We need more of these in and around the metro.
Don’t think I forgot to include talking about the awesome live performance of The Dawn that evening. It was absofrickinlutely crazy! Everyone who dropped by 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub did not go home disappointed. I thought they were going to do a couple of short sets for guests and visitors.
They actually did one very long set which felt like an intimate concert. It was remarkable!
Boy, have I got a treat for all of you! I made sure to record on video two (2) of The Dawn’s most popular hits which they performed during their long set.
Feel free to dance and sing-along to these classic songs which only The Dawn can spectacularly perform. Enjoy!
If you want more of this or if you simply want to enjoy great food and refreshing drinks, make sure to drop by 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub.
You’ll head home afterwards with a silly smile on your face and a head that’s still nodding to the beat of a lingering tune that you can’t seem to shake off.
Now that is a hangover that I’d like to have any day of the week!
