My Mother’s Day Surprise!
Mother’s Day… that special time of the year when moms around the world are honored, recognized and appreciated for their unconditional love, unwavering vigilance and outstanding example.
This year, I wanted to surprise the mother of my two kids (my wife, of course!) with something extra special. Instead of the usual dine out, I figured it would make her more happy if I personally prepared a Mother’s Day “merienda” for her. Nothing extravagant, though, because I can’t cook complicated dishes… but enough to impress her, I hope (crossing fingers).
So, here’s what I did…
Earlier today, I pretended to be craving for something to eat. Since I can’t leave the house for no good reason (and since my wife easily gets suspicious), I had to take her with me to the grocery. We bought a few ingredients as well as some toiletries just to throw her off.
As soon as we returned home and just as I predicted, it was time for my wife’s usual afternoon nap (aka “beauty rest”). Great! This was the perfect window for me to prepare her surprise Mother’s Day meal!
I decided to prepare the following dishes for her: Salmon Cream Cheese Canapés, Spaghetti in Red Sauce (cooked using the Electrolux Induction Cooker) & Melon Milkshake (using the Electrolux Powermix SILENT EBR5050 Blender). It was a very fun and delightful experience.
Watch the video below to see how my Mother’s Day surprise worked out. Happy viewing!
Well… I hope you like the video I prepared documenting the entire process as well as the fun and wackiness that came with it.
But in all seriousness and sincerity, I would like to thank my wife for being a wonderful mother not just to my kids but to everyone in our household as well.
Yen, I admire your patience, your generosity, love and selflessness in any situation we find ourselves in. Since my mom had passed not too long ago, you took it upon yourself to fill the void left by her and kept not just my sanity in check… but my father’s as well. I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve done. I know my mom is looking down upon you with joy knowing she left me and dad in good hands. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you.
I certainly hope this little gesture of mine to show love for the mother of my children inspires you to express your appreciation to the special women in your lives as well.
You too can share your surprise for your mom (or wife) and get a chance to win an Electrolux kitchen showcase just for her! Join Electrolux’s “Your Moments with Mommy” Facebook photo contest.

One million pogi points kagad! Hahaha! This was so nice, Chuckie. Natawa ako sa “Nge!” moment mo with the cracker, and dun sa “Ba’t may video? Ano’ng meron?!” reaction ni Yen. Pero very heartwarming naman the effort and message behind what you did for Yen. You guys made me smile, laugh and teary-eyed. Happy Mother’s Day to Yen!
May 12, 2014 @ 1:34 AM
Hi MyMy! Glad you liked the video and the entire post. Yeah, I left the “Nge!” moment in because it just seemed like it made it more humorous even if it WAS an accident. Haha! I’m happy it was able to convey various emotions. :) Thanks for watching! :)

May 12, 2014 @ 12:31 PM
Hi Malcolm! Yes… tahimik nga ang blender. Aliw gamitin. It actually has a built-in strainer for juicing. Hindi ko lang ginamit kasi shake ang ginawa ko. Galing! :)

Hi Malcom,
It doesn’t take a lot to surprise me. Mababaw lang ako haha! 😄
May 12, 2014 @ 4:26 AM
Aha! Sana may napulot kang new recipe. Kaso "simpleton" lang ang dishes ko. Hindi ako marunong magluto eh. Si misis ang magaling. Siya ang pasimuno ng "Dreyfus Cuisines" :))
