As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a preference for Japanese cuisine.
But back when I was a kid, Japanese restaurants were notoriously expensive. It was quite impossible to frequent these establishments without ruining one’s budget.
As time went by, Japanese restaurants started popping up all over the metro. Different names, all sorts of offerings, not to mention the ever popular buffet concept we’ve eventually grown accustomed to. Although these establishments have started sprouting here and there, and prices of Japanese food have dramatically lowered, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the quality and taste of what these young restaurants offer are satisfactory.
Fortunately, there are a few places that offer affordable Japanese dishes that are superb in taste and presentation. You just have to look hard enough to find them.
One such place, is Yumi
Yumi Japanese Restaurant is located at the mezzanine area of the new wing of Promenade, Greenhills. The new wing is where all the Dolby Atmos movie theaters are situated.
Offering delectable, delicious and attractive dishes without the outrageous cost, Yumi is one establishment that attracts droves of customers and passers-by on a daily basis. People who’ve been to Yumi for the first time always come out happy and satisfied… some cannot even believe how Japanese dishes this good can be offered at very affordable prices.
On any given day, Yumi is always packed with new and return customers. And for good reason.
Allow me to show you a few of Yumi’s delicious dishes which I have personally tried and was impressed with…
Angus Prime Chahan
Where else can you find mouthwatering Angus Prime Japanese fried rice for only 199.00? Don’t compare this to your typical fried rice… Yumi’s very own chahan uses top grade angus beef and only the finest ingredients to ensure satisfaction.
Unagi Foie Gras
This is one of Yumi’s bestselling dishes. The Unagi Foie Gras. I fell in love the first time I tasted it. If there is one dish you have to try during your first visit, it must be this. OMG.
Amazing dish. Just imagine… Fried sushi rice, layers upon layers of fish roe, spicy tuna, spicy salmon and kani. A must try.
Teppan Grilled US Tennderloin with Foie Gras
How can one resist beautifully cooked Tenderloin topped with glorious Foie Gras? I sure as hell didn’t pass up the chance to enjoy this delicious Yumi specialty. I absolutely loved it. (Image courtesy of my wife – The Tummy Traveler)
Yumi also offers a variety of sushi, sashimi, maki and tempura as well – from Soft-Shell Crab Tempura, Sake Sushi Balls, to their wonderfully plated Hamachi Carpaccio. You just have to visit them and see for yourselves.
It’s just crazy how they can offer dishes at affordable prices without compromising quality and taste.
If you’d like to know more about Yumi’s dishes, head on over to my wife’s travel/food blog, “The Tummy Traveler”, where she reviewed more dishes (with more photos).
After you’re done drooling from all the food porn, head on over to Yumi and have your fill. You won’t be disappointed.
Bring friends and family, too… because great food is meant to be shared not kept to one’s self.
Who knows… you might bump into me as well since I can’t seem to get enough of Yumi’s amazing offerings.
So, what do I think about Yumi? Yummy!
