More Of Asia With AirAsia Zest!

You’ve probably already heard of AirAsiaIt’s quite impossible not to know this airline especially if you’re like me who’s always on the lookout for the best airfare deals out there.

AirAsia, regarded as “The World’s Best Low Cost Airline”, has always been one of the most trusted names in the business especially when affordability without compromising quality comes to mind.

AirAsia Zest

AirAsia ZestMy question now is this… is it possible for the “world’s best low cost airline” to get any better than they already are? Apparently, YES! Because something that has been a long time coming has finally happened… and I was invited to Murray’s New Orleans Bourbon Street Steaks and Oysters to hear the wonderful news firsthand!

Jonathan Yabut of AirAsia gives us the awesome news!

Guess what? ZestAir is now flying with AirAsia! The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) approved “AirAsia Zest” as the new brand name of Zest Airways, Inc. CAB also approved the new logo of Zest Airways, Inc., wherein the Zest name has been incorporated into the iconic red hot circle, which is the signature logo of AirAsia.

Following this approval, the airline is currently updating its records with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to include the new business name “AirAsia Zest” in its permits with CAAP.

New Name, New Destinations!

With the recent rebranding, AirAsia Zest continues to expand its network and adds four new direct flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Kuala Lumpur and to top tourist destinations of Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Davao and Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines.

“Aside from our low fares, we are offering Filipinos more choices, enhanced services and access to AirAsia’s over 85 destinations stretching across all Asean countries as well as China, India and Australia,” AirAsia Zest EVP and COO Joy Caneba said.

Flight Schedule

Awesome AirAsia Zest! We sure could use more reliable airline services in the Philippines. I’ve absolutely grown tired of the other problematic airline companies in this country. Whew!

But wait! It gets better!

Apart from the four new direct flights mentioned above, AirAsia Zest is also launching a new route from Manila to Miri, further expanding its regional network and inviting travelers to discover the spectacular rainforest, enormous caves and limestone formations that have been listed as a World Heritage Site and many more ecotourism attractions.

“Staying true to our commitment to give more choices, better value and enhanced services, AirAsia Zest is pleased to announce that we are the first and only airline servicing Manila to Miri route,  giving our passengers and OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) access to this majestic city,”AirAsia Zest Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Joy Caneba said. “AirAsia Zest’s brand of air travel is characterized by efficiency and good service and we are all geared up to welcome our guest to this new route on December 7, when we commence operations.”

Flight Schedule (Manila to Miri)

Woohoo! I am actually excited about this in particular because from what little I’ve looked up about Miri, it is similar to the breathtaking sights and thrills of Kota Kinabalu. Can’t wait!

Oh! Speaking of Kota… AirAsia Zest flights from Manila to Kota Kinabalu will also increase its frequency from 4X to 7X weekly effective 1 December according to Caneba.

Thought that was it? Nosiree! It seems AirAsia Zest isn’t holding back on its continued regional network expansion with the introduction of its latest direct flights from Manila to Macau (famously described as the Las Vegas in Asia). Flights are now available for booking at

AirAsia Zest’s 6th new route for October will begin operations on December 6 with three flights available weekly or every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

“The addition of Manila – Macau provide yet another opportunity for Filipinos to have access to a new and attractive destination as well for our OFWs to have the best travel options at affordable fares.”AirAsia Zest Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Joy Caneba said.

Flight Schedule (Manila to Macau)

Who’s excited?! I know I am. Lots of scenic spots to visit as well as amazing food, entertainment and diverse culture to immerse yourselves in. I’m actually ready to go already! Haha!

Let’s Fly!

I remember back in the day when I was still a kid… airfare was absurdly expensive. Even regional travel would set you back a substantial amount. Thank God for affordable (and comfortable) travel opportunities nowadays courtesy of AirAsia Zest. Flying to other countries now seem like a simple road trip to the province.

AirAsia Zest Destinations

My wife, who happens to be a tourism graduate (and also a travel/food blogger) is raring to fly… go figure! Hahaha! And since we’d like to take our kids along so they can enjoy, too, you can imagine how BIG of a relief it is knowing that AirAsia Zest offers flights that don’t leave a dent on your wallet.

Good job, AirAsia Zest! Woot!

Jonathan Yabut and Me

On a related note, I was able to meet Jonathan Yabut during the event. For fans of “The Apprentice Asia”, you’d remember Jonathan as the winner of the hit reality television show earning him a coveted position in AirAsia, a corporation owned by Mr. Tony Fernandes. Cool, eh?

I was also invited by the awesome folks of AirAsia Zest to fly to Macau with them during their inaugural flight very soon! I’m really looking forward to that and will blog about the entire experience as soon as it happens. Watch out for that!

No doubt that with AirAsia Zest now flying from Manila and with all the good things that are happening to their amazing airlines, it is truly “The Right Way To Fly”! Let’s go! You can start booking now at
