Brush to Beat the Bite
Every now and then, friends (and a few acquaintances) ask me how I was able to curb my appetite especially during those critical months of my diet when I was really going hard at it.
Naturally, discipline plays a major part. But there are also a few tricks that actually work which I’ve learned along the way.
Here’s one technique you might want to try out (although this works better when you’re at home)…
Have early dinner – 6pm or 7pm is fine. Then head straight to the bathroom and brush your teeth.
There are a lot of reasons this trick may work for you. First, the aftertaste of toothpaste can help suppress your craving for snacks in-between meals. Second, if your craving continues, the thought of already having brushed your teeth and the unwanted effort of brushing again (should you give in to the munchies), may be enough to keep you junkfood-free till you retire for the evening.
Keep in mind that this trick may or may not work for you.
The only surefire way to succeed in losing weight is to have unwavering discipline in one’s diet and exercise… day in and day out.

Haha, 138-140, depending on when I step on the scale. It took a year to lose 20+ lbs. :)

What’s important is you got there even if it took a while. Kaysa naman sa iba na puro plano pero walang nangyayari.:)

+1 on discipline. I learned how to ignore my cravings for sweets and soda. I was able to cut down my soda in-take from 14 to 20 servings a week to 1 or almost none. Trick is to start small and gradually adjusting to a healthier lifestyle.

True. Even “cheat meals” are actually important, too. They keep you sane and prevent you from burning out. Here’s to discipline. :)
