Have you been meaning to visit Bohol to check out this beautiful province’s breathtaking beaches and wonderful tourist attractions? You’re in luck! There’s so much in store for locals and foreigners alike.

Still thinking of where to take your special someone this Valentine’s Day? Here’s a great recommendation! Why not Dine Under The Stars at The Terrace of Maxims Hotel in Resorts World Manila. It’s exactly what my wife and I did just a couple of nights ago.
Though we had this particular dinner a couple of days before Valentine’s, it was a great way to kick off the season of love, given the ambiance, preparation and, yes, even the kind of dishes prepared for the evening.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Bohol once again courtesy of my wonderful Philippines AirAsia family.
I’ve said it time and again… Bohol is like a second home to me. I’ve been to Bohol around over 6 times in 2016 alone — and I never grow tired of it. Bohol is just one of those amazing places that boasts of great tourist spots, wonderful food, exciting festivities and some of the warmest and most hospitable people around.
Our itinerary for this particular Bohol trip was the Ubi Festival 2017 which is celebrated annually, and a fun Visita Iglesia in January. I was actually also able to attend the Ubi Festival 2016 last year which was so much fun. Now, just to get the confusion out of the way… Boholanos spell Ube (Purple Yam) as “Ubi”. They also happen to be the largest growers of this root crop anywhere in the world, hence the festival in this province that was named after it.
The Visita Iglesia is also something that I’ve been eagerly anticipating on doing. Of course, Visita Iglesia season happens during Holy Week which falls between March and April every year, but it was great that we were given the opportunity to do it during our recent visit. Bohol has some of the most amazing and majestic churches in the country and has been a great destination for tourists and the faithful alike. Sadly, most of the churches in Bohol have been devastated or badly damaged due to the terrible earthquake back in 2013. During my frequent trips to the province last year, the local government together with their people, have been hard at work restoring and reconstructing these churches. This visit gave me an opportunity to see how their efforts are progressing.
Join me as we go on a Visita Iglesia as well as join the Ubi Festival 2017 through this photoblog. I also made a quick video of this trip which I embedded below as well. Let’s go! :)
Technology is a great thing. Among other benefits, it makes our work much more efficient, it allows us to do things more conveniently, and it gives people access to information faster and easier than ever before.
But, at what cost?
You see, technology is a double edged sword. As we maximize and enjoy its seemingly limitless potential, we must also be cautious not to be burdened or hurt by it.
We constantly praise humanity’s advances in technology, not to mention the power of the internet, recognizing that because of it, the world has never been smaller and more connected.
While that may be the truth, many of us fail to realize that the very same technology that practically surrounds us everywhere we go, has also made us slaves of it. The very thing that has given us the power to be connected has, ironically, also been the very reason why human beings have slowly grown apart. People have become frighteningly addicted and dependent on technology that we have sadly become imprisoned by our devices and forgotten the importance of personal ties and truly “being” with someone and sharing meaningful moments with them.
It’s such a tragedy to see families living under the same roof and yet never really “being together”.
Just a quick review of another external power bank that I am currently using (Yes, I love external power banks… isn’t it obvious? LOL!). This new power bank I am currently using, among others, is called the “ibattz VOGUE BATTSTATION”. Don’t be fooled by it’s small size. This little baby carries 5600mAh of charging power. […]
I love external bluetooth speakers. Especially now that battery consumption using bluetooth has dramatically improved. That being said, I have gone through a couple of external bluetooth speakers already and have enjoyed a good number of them. The latest bluetooth speaker I am reviewing is called the Braven 440.
I’ve been testing out the Urbanears Humlan for quite sometime now. I have to say, I really didn’t know what to expect in terms of performance when I first took this new pair out for a test drive. When I reviewed the Urbanears Kransen a few weeks back, I came out with a fair review […]

Acne. One of my most dreaded problems when I was a kid. I guess most (if not all) adolescents go though this somewhat “rite of passage” in their lives, one time or another. Anyone who has gone through this frustrating and sometimes embarrassing phase in their lives would know the pains one would go through […]
I’ve always been an advocate of good health. Whenever there’s an opportunity to share valuable health tips with my readers, I jump on it. I am very careful when it comes to supplements and the kind of vitamins I put inside my body. Hey, you only have yourself to blame in the long run if […]
Guys, I wanna share something with all of you… I hope you take the time to read this. Believe me… it’s worth it. I am writing about this because I really want all of you to know about it. I recently underwent a treatment being offered at Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting Institute called […]
Love sinigang as much as I do? Well, prepare your palates for these two special sinigang dishes which I featured on GMA-7’s Pinoy MD. A classic, reinvented!
It doesn’t happen everyday that you come across a restaurant that serves spectacular dishes that truly impress. One such place is Minami Saki by Astoria.
It’s that time of year again when we all come together to recognize restaurants that stood out and impressed us. It’s time for The Choice 2016! Vote now!
Max, our little teacup Pomeranian, always loves waking me up for a little “cuddle time” in the morning. He won’t stop bugging me until I’ve really opened my eyes and looked at him. He loves playing with my hair and ears. When he’s sure that he’s gotten my attention, he starts to cuddle up beside […]
So… I just finished doing an entire 30 minute cardio routine – AT THE CARWASH! How crazy is that?! LOL! The guy cleaning the car was probably wondering what I was doing running around and doing twists and jumps for an entire 30 minutes in the corner of their shop. But hey… hitting two birds […]
Some people wonder how I can have a foodie wife and yet stay physically fit. Quite a number of individuals have already asked me how I manage to hop from one resto to the other with my wife (at times even everyday), eating all sorts of dishes, yet not letting most of the calories show […]
Dear Mr. Bengero… I have made this open letter to you to address all the accusations you have raised against me directly and indirectly through conversations with common friends and acquaintances. As much as I would rather keep quiet and put all this to rest, I am compelled to write this to clear my name. […]
I finally found a bag that meets the demands of long trips yet can be easily brought along without having to check it in. It’s called the Venque Duffel 1.0.
And the awards and recognition just keep on coming! As a testament to their dedication and pursuit of excellence, AirAsia has been named World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline for the fourth year in a row at the 23rd World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final in Malé, Maldives. Winning the award four years straight is no small […]
Now you can paint the skies red all the way to Taipei! AirAsia just launched their direct flights to Taipei from Manila and I was there to witness it!
