I love Japanese food. You probably already know this if you’re a regular reader of my blog.
But, what you probably aren’t aware of is that apart from sushi, sashimi and shrimp tempura, Teppanyaki dishes are the ones I really look forward to having whenever I visit a Japanese restaurant.
For the benefit of those who don’t know what Teppanyaki is… Wikipedia’s definition is as follows:
“Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan (鉄板), which means iron plate, and yaki (焼き), which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. In Japan, teppanyaki refers to dishes cooked using an iron plate, including steak, shrimp, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and monjayaki.”
If you enjoy teppanyaki food as much as I do… or if you are simply curious to know what makes teppanyaki different from other dishes, well then, you’re in luck! There’s no better time to satiate your curious palate than now.
Osaka Ohsho is currently having a really awesome Teppanyaki Festival which is sure to delight all their customers.
I had an absolute blast just a couple of weeks ago when my wife and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary.
Perhaps, the reason why I especially enjoyed this year’s celebration is because I had no idea at all as to what was in store apart from our anniversary lunch with our kids and my dad.
Anyways, here is how it all played out…
During our anniversary lunch, my wife has been constantly reminding me of a “property tour” we were scheduled to have during the same day at Mariott Hotel Manila. For the life of me, I was quite confused as to how and why work in the form of a property tour was fit into our special day in the first place. But, what the hell… right?
After a fun lunch out with family, we decided to take my dad and our kids home so we could mosey on our way to Marriott Hotel Manila and go about our business. And so, that’s what we did.
On our way to Marriott Hotel Manila, I even told my wife that we’d probably have a lot of trouble getting back home early since this was also the day after the girder launcher collapsed along Andrews Ave. (the road just in front of Newport City Complex where Marriott is located) and that traffic was going to be terrible. My wife didn’t seem the least bit bothered which in turn slightly baffled me. Oh, well.
As we finally entered Marriott Hotel Manila, we were greeted by Ms. Hope who was waiting for us at the lobby area. She mentioned in passing that she’d take us around the hotel in a short while, which I thought was part of the “property tour” that was scheduled that afternoon.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Hope introduced my wife and I to Marriott Hotel Manila’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Ms. Michelle Garcia. She warmly welcomed us to the hotel and casually said, “So, are you ready to see your room?”
Wait… Our room???
With the vast selection of easy-to-use laptops, netbooks and tablets sold in the market nowadays, and as each gadget becomes smaller and smaller, you would think that gone are the days of workstations and high-powered devices.
On the contrary, there is very much a need for such products.
Sure, surfing the internet, updating your Facebook status, word processing and watching your favorite videos can be performed using your handy notepad or tablet. But, what if work (or play) requires a higher demand for power? Memory-intesive graphics design or power-hungry gameplay, perhaps. Good luck performing those tasks using a simple netbook. You’ll probably end up pulling your hair in frustration… if your device doesn’t give up on you first.
But hey, that’s the very reason why Acer Philippines reminds us that there is Acer Premium – an elite array of top-of-the-line Acer products showcasing first-class engineering in sophisticated design. Just because a device works like a behemoth of a monster doesn’t mean it can’t look good at the same time, right?
Power and Looks – a potent combination that is sure to attract the most discerning of consumers. That’s why Acer Philippines launched their most “powerful” campaign to date.
Yes! After grueling months of waiting, WINTER IS COMING once again!
One of my most favorite television series is premiering very soon – Game of Thrones Season 5 on HBO!
I have always been an avid fan of this absolutely amazing show… in fact, I have phone cases and shirts that can prove how much I love this incredible HBO series.
If you enjoy Game of Thrones as much as I do (and I’m sure you do!), then you’d be absolutely happy to know that the highly anticipated Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series returns to the Philippines same time as the U.S. for its new 10-episode 5th season!
Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres this Monday, April 13 at 9AM on HBO with the same day encore at 9PM! Woohoo! The moment has arrived to visit Westeros and follow the victories and (sometimes bloody) tragedies of the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, Targaryens and other families battling for absolute power and control of King’s Landing… each one hoping to sit on the coveted Iron Throne.
New episodes debut weekly at the same time and the series will also be available on HBO GO on the same day.
Being an avid fan of Game of Thrones (which all my friends know), I was fortunate enough to be invited by HBO Asia to the exclusive advanced screening of the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 5 which I was able to attend just last night at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street! We were the first in Asia to watch the new episode days ahead of its worldwide broadcast. It was all sorts of awesome… really!
With tons of burger restaurants in and around the metro and with each of them claiming to offer something unique to invite customers, it gets quite difficult to know which of them actually stands out.
Fortunately, folks… being a burger lover myself and having been to a good number of these specialty food spots, pointing you guys to some of the places that serve great tasting burgers is hardly any problem. That being said, I’d like to recommend a fairly new restaurant that specializes in burgers that not only taste incredible, but are also very reasonably priced.
Right inside SM Supercenter in Pasig City (just beside Tiendesitas) is a quaint little restaurant called, “The Great American Burger Joint” but more popularly known simply as, “The Burger Joint”.
The Burger Joint at SM Supercenter Pasig is a haven for people who truly know their burgers.
Just recently, my wife and I, together with a few foodie buddies of ours visited The Burger Joint at SM Supercenter Pasig. With eager and ready appetites, we tried a good number of their offerings which, I must say, progressed and ended spectacularly well.

My family and I recently checked out a restaurant amusingly called, WRONG RAMEN, located in Burgos Circle at The Fort. I’ll tell you this… I hardly fall for Oriental noodle dishes. The only time I fell absolutely in love with something like this was when I tried out RAMEN BAR at Robinson’s Magnolia a few […]
My family and I recently checked out a fairly young food spot that has been making quite a buzz around town as well as on social media due to its delicious dishes. The place? Ramen Bar. We’ve been meaning to hit this place up for quite some time now but haven’t really gotten ’round to […]
I’m a sucker for food. I love eating although it doesn’t quite show now because of the drastic diet and fitness regimen that I had to go through 2 years ago wherein I lost 50lbs in roughly 4 months (185lbs. down to 135lbs.) It takes a substantial amount of effort to stay fit. In fact, […]
I’d like to thank everyone who went out of their way to attend my 3rd Globe Lifestyle Seminar on Parenting earlier today at McDonald’s, Libis, Quezon City. It was great seeing lots of parents having a good time together with their kids. I hope you all enjoyed my stories and parenting tips. I had fun […]
