Still thinking of where to take your special someone this Valentine’s Day? Here’s a great recommendation! Why not Dine Under The Stars at The Terrace of Maxims Hotel in Resorts World Manila. It’s exactly what my wife and I did just a couple of nights ago.
Though we had this particular dinner a couple of days before Valentine’s, it was a great way to kick off the season of love, given the ambiance, preparation and, yes, even the kind of dishes prepared for the evening.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Bohol once again courtesy of my wonderful Philippines AirAsia family.
I’ve said it time and again… Bohol is like a second home to me. I’ve been to Bohol around over 6 times in 2016 alone — and I never grow tired of it. Bohol is just one of those amazing places that boasts of great tourist spots, wonderful food, exciting festivities and some of the warmest and most hospitable people around.
Our itinerary for this particular Bohol trip was the Ubi Festival 2017 which is celebrated annually, and a fun Visita Iglesia in January. I was actually also able to attend the Ubi Festival 2016 last year which was so much fun. Now, just to get the confusion out of the way… Boholanos spell Ube (Purple Yam) as “Ubi”. They also happen to be the largest growers of this root crop anywhere in the world, hence the festival in this province that was named after it.
The Visita Iglesia is also something that I’ve been eagerly anticipating on doing. Of course, Visita Iglesia season happens during Holy Week which falls between March and April every year, but it was great that we were given the opportunity to do it during our recent visit. Bohol has some of the most amazing and majestic churches in the country and has been a great destination for tourists and the faithful alike. Sadly, most of the churches in Bohol have been devastated or badly damaged due to the terrible earthquake back in 2013. During my frequent trips to the province last year, the local government together with their people, have been hard at work restoring and reconstructing these churches. This visit gave me an opportunity to see how their efforts are progressing.
Join me as we go on a Visita Iglesia as well as join the Ubi Festival 2017 through this photoblog. I also made a quick video of this trip which I embedded below as well. Let’s go! :)
Technology is a great thing. Among other benefits, it makes our work much more efficient, it allows us to do things more conveniently, and it gives people access to information faster and easier than ever before.
But, at what cost?
You see, technology is a double edged sword. As we maximize and enjoy its seemingly limitless potential, we must also be cautious not to be burdened or hurt by it.
We constantly praise humanity’s advances in technology, not to mention the power of the internet, recognizing that because of it, the world has never been smaller and more connected.
While that may be the truth, many of us fail to realize that the very same technology that practically surrounds us everywhere we go, has also made us slaves of it. The very thing that has given us the power to be connected has, ironically, also been the very reason why human beings have slowly grown apart. People have become frighteningly addicted and dependent on technology that we have sadly become imprisoned by our devices and forgotten the importance of personal ties and truly “being” with someone and sharing meaningful moments with them.
It’s such a tragedy to see families living under the same roof and yet never really “being together”.
It’s a common problem for most travelers and perhaps a concern also for some individuals and families who own a ton of smart devices at home… the lack of available electrical outlets to simultaneously charge your tablet and smartphones. I’ve experienced this dilemma countless times during hotel staycations and out of town getaways. Just imagine… each […]

Let me be the first to say it in case you felt the same way, Airdrop sucks balls every so often. It’s faulty and it isn’t reliable. It’s great when it works but it’s such a pain when it doesn’t. And boy does it falter quite often. I sometimes take countless minutes trying to detect […]

Seriously… can we please stop saying that “The Filipino Spirit is Waterproof”? Do you really want to keep saying that over and over again as a kind of coping mechanism for our suffering due to government’s incompetence and lack of infrastructure preparedness because of corruption? Yes, our spirit is waterproof just as it is […]
Last Tuesday (June 10, 2014), I had the awesome opportunity of meeting and having coffee/breakfast with WordPress/Automattic founder, Matt Mullenweg. He was visiting the country as part of an extended tour he was having which included a few more countries nearby. Given that I’ve been a hardcore WordPress user for many years now and also […]
Resorts are a dime a dozen nowadays. So many know of beaches and popular relaxation destinations in places like Kalibo, Bohol, and Palawan. It’s so difficult to decide where to go. Oh man! The video below reminds me so much of my internet provider! It will most likely remind you of yours as well (especially if you’re using “cable internet”). Watch the video below… Hilarious, right?! Perhaps because almost all of us can actually relate to it… (which is kinda sad, too). *sigh!*
This is one fuuuunnny video by College Humor entitled, “Look At This Instagram”… what adds to its hilariousness is the actual truth the parody depicts. Every frickin’ Instragram user can relate to it! The video isn’t very new. Nevertheless, I’m posting it here for those who haven’t seen it yet and for those who want […]
