“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud…”
You probably already know this popular verse in the bible — 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — because it is often recited during weddings as a declaration of love, a reminder of what love truly means and how we must act towards one another. Yes, love is many things… and many things, love isn’t as well.
But in a marriage, apart from all the things that love is and what it holds true, love also brings out the best in both individuals. Love isn’t stagnant. It constantly moves and allows us to find wonderful and creative ways to stoke the fire within us in order to make old things new again — even a dying relationship.
In this particular chapter and verse of the bible, it is best understood in the line, “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Always perseveres.
Rodel and Louie share their story
This is perhaps wonderfully demonstrated through the story of Rodel and Louie by way of a beautiful MySlim Motivation Video below.
This is the beauty of love. It manifests itself in different forms and perseveres even in the harshest of conditions… if you allow it to. And once you take heed and listen to it, everything just slowly falls into place. In Rodel and Louie’s case, love, albeit dying, has found a way to come back. Dedication to fitness and the mutual desire to get healthier was their unique way of cultivating a love almost lost.
I can closely relate to this because my wife and I have likewise grown closer to one another through our common love for fitness. In fact, we regularly post our fun routines at the gym online through our social media accounts just like this one below…
Love is a wonderful thing. I think the Beatles said it best when they simply told the world, “All you need is love… love is all you need.”
What about you, guys? What does LOVE drive you to do? How does love motivate you?
