Every now and then I’d like to surprise myself by using a variety of smartphones which I consider to be standouts in the market. It’s a great way to gauge the development of technology and the beauty of competition.
One particular standout that I have recently started playing with up until now and couldn’t get enough of is the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0. It is an elegantly designed Android device currently running on the Lollipop version (5.0) of the operating system.
Geek or not, you will love the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0
While some smartphones offered in the market will overwhelm you with tons of features – some which are actually unnecessary – the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 takes a different route. With most ASUS devices, they tend to mix the essential qualities with some unusual yet very useful (and impressive) features.
What you get is a smartphone that performs beautifully without the uneasiness that one gets when going through a tedious learning curve that is expected from most newer Android models.
The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 comes in various colors as well… but I particularly love the gold and red variants which I have had the pleasure of playing around with. The gold model looks very elegant while the red version is a natural head-turner with its rich strong appearance.
The form factor of the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is obviously well thought out.
The moment you hold it, it sits perfectly on the palm of your hand. It is worth noting that even with its delightfully thin frame, the device isn’t too flimsily light, nor is it unusually heavy. It feels sturdy enough to take a beating (but please don’t! Hahaha!)
One of the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0’s main selling point in my opinion is its impressive camera. This particular device sports an amazing 8-Megapixel camera guided a laser auto-focus. With its laser auto-focus technology, you get incredibly fast clarity. The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has an infrared laser that measures distances at lightning speed. No kidding, folks. Near-instant focus as fast as (get this!) 0.03 seconds! That’s really fast!
To give you a better understanding, traditional contrast focus by other smartphone cameras are at least 2 times slower. Also, infrared laser gets the most accurate distance of the object, and the lens accelerates itself to the precise position for the imaging. Traditional focus, on the other hand, needs to detect the sharpness of the photo frame by frame… this process requires the lens to travel longer, slowing down the focusing time significantly.
Other notable features of the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 are its dual-LED real tone flash and the 5-Megapixel wide-view camera on the front.

It goes without saying that the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is designed to please everyone’s inner-photographer and excite natural shutterbugs.
Apart from photos, the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 takes amazing videos in Full HD 1920 x 1080. Focus problems are quickly eliminated during video recording all thanks to the same built-in laser auto-focus technology.
Feeling technical? Great! Here are a couple of specs that will satisfy your inner-geek…
The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 comes with the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 cortex A53 MSM8916 quad core processor coupled with Adreno 306 GPU clockspeed @ 400MHz. It also boasts of 2GB DDR3 RAM. This dual-sim smartphone comes in 8GB and 16GB internal storage variants and supports up to 128GB via MicroSD card.
I’m quite the dabbler, you see. I love tinkering on smartphones for hours on end which obviously eats up a lot of battery power. I was equally impressed with the removable 2,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery that comes with the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 since it seemed to keep up with my constant poking and non-stop usage. This is great news particularly for those who get easily paranoid when it comes to battery drain.
Parents will love getting this for their kids, too, since you can configure the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 by allowing only certain apps for them use. You can also control how much time they spend on the phone, block notifications, block all or designated calls, and set a passcode to allow answering calls.
Looking for a phone that sports an awesome display for vivid colors and rendering great text? The Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has got you covered with its 5.0-inch HD (720x1280p) IPS display and Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
I noticed that even during the most demanding tasks and processes, the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 never overheats. Perfect for gamers.
For those looking for faster mobile data speed, the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is already LTE capable, so downloading and browsing is most definitely much more enjoyable.
I took advantage of ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0’s very convenient ZenMotion touch gesture which allows me to save time and effort when accessing certain phone features. While the phone is on sleep mode, I can simply use swipe gestures on the screen to wake up the device and directly enable apps such as the browser, camera, email and calendar. Pretty nifty, if you ask me.
I just have to mention that moving the volume rocker to the back of the device is genius! Lowering and raising volume during calls or even using the buttons for taking photos have become way easier. Great thinking, Asus!
In a nutshell, whether you love taking photos, playing a variety of games, or just want something for the usual daily grind, you will find the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 a joy to use and worthy of your company. It is also, perhaps, the device that offers more bells and whistles than most smartphones in the same price range. Bottomline… you get an impressive device by a reputable company that’s heavy on impressive features yet light on the budget. What else could you ask for?
The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is most definitely worth considering and could very well be your next smartphone. So, go ahead… have at it and, in the words of the cool folks over at ASUS, “See what others can’t see!”
