To discover and learn.
Isn’t that the reason why we travel to new destinations and explore the world around us?
Whether to learn about new places and different cultures, or to make new friends and discover new things through their own stories, traditions and personal experiences, travel is something that is truly essential for everyone. It is something we can never truly (and fully) learn through books and being holed up inside classrooms.
That is why I am extremely grateful for all the travel opportunities I continue to have through my wonderful AirAsia and AirAsia Philippines family. Seeing the world has broadened my understanding, taught me so many things, and has changed my outlook in life. It has also given me the chance to share all of these with friends, family and, of course, to all of you, my dear readers.
But apart from travel, I absolutely admire this airline company because they sincerely strive hard to build a strong, lasting and, more importantly, genuine relationship with members of the AirAsia blogging community from different countries.
As a testament to how much AirAsia values their online friends, they have made them feel all the more part of family by creating the AirAsia Bloggers Community a couple of years ago. The aim is to bring all members of this community together every year via an annual conference. Each year a different country is tasked to host the AirAsia Bloggers Community, which makes every conference a fresh new experience every time.
Together with my AirAsia Philippines family, I was able to attend the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 which was held in Bangkok, Thailand just recently.
Being with family at the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015
More than anything, the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015, just like the first get together back in 2013 hosted by Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (there was no conference in 2014), is like a fun family reunion. The whole day event is filled with fun activities, music and entertainment with the purpose of strengthening friendship and camaraderie.
Some of the activities that were prepared for this year’s AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 were a city-wide “Amazing Race” kind of photo hunt and an enjoyable awards program over dinner and music in the evening.
During the photo hunt, bloggers from different countries were assigned into various groups. And since members of a particular group were total strangers to one another, the activity was the perfect means for us to get acquainted.
The photo hunt was also a great way for attendees of the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 to learn more about the culture and beauty of Thailand in such a short span of time.
Unfortunately, our group didn’t complete all the tasks of the photo hunt first, so we didn’t win the game. But, being able to make new friends at the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 and somehow bond so quickly was more than enough for everyone. The objective of building new friendships was most definitely accomplished.
And because of that incredibly fun photo hunt, the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 party that followed soon after during that evening became all the more enjoyable. People didn’t feel like strangers anymore. Everyone was laughing and sharing stories with friends we only actually met hours earlier. It seemed like no one wanted the night to end.
All in all, the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 was nothing short of spectacular. AirAsia and AirAsia Thailand were able to pull off an incredibly successful conference that strengthened relationships and forged lasting friendships among bloggers and with the airline company.
Flying back to Manila, I realized that I was bringing home more than just the cool bargain clothes from Patpong Night Market and delightful treats that I bought at the Duty Free Shop during my short stay in Bangkok. I was taking back with me things that were far more valuable – new found friendships with persons from different countries with different values and different cultures. Because of this, AirAsia has further broadened my appreciation of the world the same way they always do when they fly you off to foreign lands and new destinations.
I had an absolutely amazing time at the AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015. Truly unforgettable. Here’s to new friends and new places.
Thank you, AirAsia and AirAsia Philippines for making me part of your family.
Looking forward to next year’s AirAsia Bloggers Community 2016.
