What’s in a name?
Well, if you’re an establishment that happens to be associated with the name, “Nobu”, then clearly a lot is riding on the reputation that precedes it.
When Nobu Hotel Manila first opened its doors last year together with City of Dreams Manila’s official coming out party, it immediately became one of the most talked about and much sought after hotels in the country. And with good reason.
Nobu has become a brand known for qualities such as beauty, comfort and attention to detail. Their restaurants and hotels constantly provide the kind of excellence that has made them the destination of choice of individuals who seek great food and impeccable service.
Nobu Hotel Manila, as with all other Nobu Hotels around the world, is inspired by world-renowned Chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, and his dazzling array of hip, modern restaurants. Partnering with him is none other than Academy award winning actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper. Their establishments are designed by the internationally-acclaimed Rockwell Group, whose hand also created the look and feel of Nobu restaurants throughout the world.
My wife and I were able to have a short but very fun staycation at Nobu Hotel Manila just recently and I just have to say, the experience was nothing short of incredible.
And if you’ve never stayed at Nobu Hotel Manila and have been wondering what to expect there, then you’ve come to the right place!
Here are 7 reasons why you should stay at Nobu Hotel Manila
1. Wonderful hotel staff
It goes without saying that in a hospitality business, personality is key. How a guest is treated during the stay makes up a huge part of his/her overall experience. Nobu Hotel Manila obviously pays very close attention to this very important aspect, as evidently seen in the way every member of their staff accommodates and cares for their customers.
2. Hotel atmosphere
Unlike typical hotels in the metro that give off a homey yet corporately stiff atmosphere, Nobu Hotel Manila stands out by providing a more relaxing and zen-like ambiance all over the establishment. The Japanese-inspired aesthetic of the place is something that guests immediately notice the moment they walk into the hotel.
3. Hotel furniture
Matching Nobu Hotel Manila’s wonderful atmosphere is the establishment’s incredible furniture, naturally. Most would know that Japanese culture revolves around nature… this is the reason why you will find wooden elements and flowers around the area. This helps bring the beauty of nature inside.
You will also notice that Nobu Hotel Manila has more of a minimalist design, veering away from huge and heavy ornaments normally found in other hotels. These little things help to avoid overwhelming guests during their stay. I absolutely love how clean, uncluttered and simple the entire hotel is.
4. Architecture of the hotel
From the outside, all three hotels situated at the City of Dreams sport a uniform look – structures that seem to resemble gold bars and majestically glitter especially when hit by the rays of the sun. But inside, Nobu Hotel Manila is anything but typical. Its wooden paneling and nature-inspired hallways evoke feelings of tranquility and peacefulness.
5. Wonderful rooms
Nobu Hotel Manila is perhaps one of very few hotels anywhere that boasts of rooms that are truly unforgettable, not just because of its beauty and elegance, but because of how the design of the place immediately puts you at ease.
Intricate details matched with hues of nature makes for a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Even the Japanese artwork displayed above our bed’s headboard, which translates to Chi or flow of energy, helps in setting the overall mood of the room.
Our deluxe room at Nobu Hotel Manila boasts of an amazing king-sized bed, a JBL docking station (hooray!), writing desk, a comfortable sofa, an impressive 47″ LED TV with a wide selection of local and cable channels as well as video-on-demand, and high speed internet connection (wireless and LAN).
And because the entire hotel is nature-centric, Nobu Hotel Manila’s rooms are in no shortage of natural light coming from their floor-to-ceiling windows. This allows each guest a wonderful view of the outside, and at the same time bathing the area with an ample amount of sunlight.
6. Great food and a beautiful restaurant
I probably had one of my best breakfasts ever at Nobu Restaurant – the world’s most recognized Japanese restaurant by Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa.
And just like the entire hotel, Nobu Restaurant also brings an air of comfort and relaxation that customers truly appreciate. The entire dining area is pleasantly spacious and boasts of beautiful floral print seats, wooden accents, floor-to-ceiling windows, and ample natural lighting.
But, of course, the highlight of any restaurant is its selection of food. Nobu Restaurant makes sure to impress every guest with their uniquely different yet incredibly delicious offerings. Whether you choose to feast via the buffet or opt to go ala carte, there’s always something for everyone.
I’m not one who typically jumps from one buffet dish to the other especially during breakfast. Call me a simpleton, if you will, but I usually stick to just one dish when eating. This particular morning, Nobu Restaurant’s “Wagyu Tapsilog” caught my attention (I also heard it was one of the restaurant’s all-time favorites).
Although the photo I took doesn’t do justice to how visually appealing the dish actually is, the Wagyu Tapsilog was all sorts of wonderful! It is arguably the best tapsilog dish you’ll ever try. The miso braised Wagyu Cheek, nori flakes and papaya relish all makes for one spectacular breakfast that is sure to kick off any person’s day to a flying start.
From the incredible swimming pool underneath an amazing crimson sky, to the fully-equipped Nobu Fitness Room that is sure to excite any gym rat (like me!), to their wonderfully relaxing Nobu Spa, you can be sure there is something for everyone at Nobu Hotel Manila.
Whatever your idea of de-stressing is, I’m pretty sure you’ll be a happy camper at Nobu Hotel Manila.
I particularly wanted to try the Nobu Spa with my wife since we hardly have tandem spa sessions when we’re out. It was the perfect opportunity!
Before actually having our much needed massage, we were asked to fill out what they called a “Physical Limitation” form which informs our therapists of which areas of our body to avoid as well as areas that we’d want them to concentrate on more.
Any lingering doubt on Hotel Nobu Manila’s attention to detail would be immediately dispelled the moment you enter the spa. There’s a cabinet where you will find a pair of “his and her” robes and slippers. You will find the sink right beside it together with a jewelry box where you can temporarily store all your jewelry and accessories. They even provide disposable underwear in case you needed one.
I absolutely enjoyed my massage. It was so relaxing I believe I ended up sleeping like a baby all throughout the session. When I asked if anyone heard me snoring, my therapist and my wife kind of chuckled… I guess that answers my question. LOL!
Anyways, during our stay my wife and I also had the opportunity to meet the General Manager of Nobu Hotel Manila, Mr. Marlon Hirsh, City of Dreams Manila’s Vice President of Public Relations, Charisse Chuidian, as well as City of Dreams Manila’s Director of Public Relations, Ms. Erika Aquino. It so happened that good buddy, Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet, was also staying at the hotel which was a pleasant surprise! We spent a good amount of time enjoying a few snacks while sharing stories, getting to know each other, as well as learning more about the hotel and the wonderful people that continue to make this establishment a huge success.
In such a brief amount of time, I’ve learned so much about Nobu Hotel Manila.
So, there you have it, folks… 7 good reasons why you should stay at Nobu Hotel Manila. I’m pretty sure you’ll find more reasons to come back again and again once you’ve experienced their signature style of service, luxury and comfort. This uniquely beautiful hotel has so much to offer… and I haven’t even begun to talk about all the awesome attractions, stores and entertainment one can find inside the vast space of City of Dreams Manila.
If you’ve already been to Nobu Hotel Manila, you already know this to be true. If you haven’t booked a stay yet, then there’s no better time than now to experience what other’s have been raving about over and over again.
I’d like to thank the amazing folks at FleishmanHillard especially the dashing Ferdinand Bondoy and, of course, Nobu Hotel Manila for making our stay one for the books. I look forward to more memorable stays there in the future.
