Yes! After grueling months of waiting, WINTER IS COMING once again!
One of my most favorite television series is premiering very soon – Game of Thrones Season 5 on HBO!
I have always been an avid fan of this absolutely amazing show… in fact, I have phone cases and shirts that can prove how much I love this incredible HBO series.
If you enjoy Game of Thrones as much as I do (and I’m sure you do!), then you’d be absolutely happy to know that the highly anticipated Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series returns to the Philippines same time as the U.S. for its new 10-episode 5th season!
Game of Thrones Season 5 premieres this Monday, April 13 at 9AM on HBO with the same day encore at 9PM! Woohoo! The moment has arrived to visit Westeros and follow the victories and (sometimes bloody) tragedies of the Starks, Lannisters, Baratheons, Targaryens and other families battling for absolute power and control of King’s Landing… each one hoping to sit on the coveted Iron Throne.
New episodes debut weekly at the same time and the series will also be available on HBO GO on the same day.
Being an avid fan of Game of Thrones (which all my friends know), I was fortunate enough to be invited by HBO Asia to the exclusive advanced screening of the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 5 which I was able to attend just last night at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street! We were the first in Asia to watch the new episode days ahead of its worldwide broadcast. It was all sorts of awesome… really!
As much as I’d like to tell you guys about how season 5 kicks off, I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. Best to wait for the premiere on HBO and watch it in all its glory!
Game of Thrones Season 5 and the Iron Throne
Also, as a build-up to Game of Thrones Season 5’s April 13 world premiere, HBO Asia brings to Manila a life-sized replica of the Iron Throne, as seen in the series. No joke, folks. It was unveiled just last night during the advanced screening and it looked insane!
Tons of oohs and aahs could be heard from guests as soon as the Iron Throne was revealed.
I was even able to get my (ahem!) King’s Landing “groove” on and sit on the Iron Throne for a quick photo op! How cool is that?!
Fret not, dear readers. I’ve got good news for you! From April 8 to 10, 2015 at Fully Booked, BHS, the Game of Thrones IRON THRONE will be on display for fans to experience and photograph. If you can’t make it to Fully Booked on those dates, just make sure to watch out for more news on new locations where the Iron Throne will be displayed.
Fans are encouraged to post pictures of themselves on the Iron Throne on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and tag HBO Asia with the hashtags #HBOAsiaGOTS5 and #IronThronePH.
“GAME OF THRONES is the first of our many HBO Original series to premiere in Asia the same time as the U.S., and the first television series to debut worldwide in over 170 countries simultaneously,” said Angela Poh, HBO Asia’s Manager of Communications. “We’re so pleased bring this opportunity for our fans in the Philippines to experience the Iron Throne live. The series is such a huge global phenomenon and we know what a huge hit it is in the Philippines.”
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones tells an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros – a place where summers and winters can last for years… and only the lust for power is eternal.
Ready for Game of Thrones Season 5?
So, what can fans expect in Game of Thrones Season 5, you ask? This season, Jon Snow is struggling to balance the demands of the Night’s Watch with those of the newly arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself the rightful king of Westeros. Meanwhile, Cersei scrambles to hold on to power in King’s Landing amidst the Tyrells and the rise of a religious group led by the enigmatic High Sparrow, while Jaime embarks on a secret mission. Across the Narrow Sea, Arya seeks an old friend and a fugitive Tyrion finds a new cause. And as danger mounts in Meereen, Daenerys finds that her tenuous hold on the city requires hard sacrifices.
If you aren’t up to speed and have yet to catch up on earlier episodes of Game of Thrones, you can easily watch previous seasons via HBO Go.
Excited already? I’ve already seen the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 5 but I’m still excited to catch the actual premiere on HBO!
Remember, folks… the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 5 happens on April 13, 2015 at 9AM and an encore at 9PM. That’s just a few days away! Better brush up on your Westeros history now and get ready for one helluva time when the newest season of Game of Thrones kicks off!
Winter is coming… and I’m so ready for it! Valar morghulis.
