Mobile Education (mEducation) and Electronic Learning (eLearning): The future of education has finally arrived!

We have come a long way from the likes of “Sineskwela” when placing education on TV was the revolutionary method to capture the attention of students. Today, most, if not all children (my 2 kids included) have become so engrossed in the latest mobile gadgets and spend a great amount of time online for interaction, information, and entertainment — a situation in which some education institutions might see as a barrier or disruption towards learning.

But in the eyes of digital visionaries and today’s generation of educators, there is great opportunity for richer learning, more effective teaching, and improved processes.

mEducation and eLearning

Much has been said about mobile education (mEducation) and electronic learning (eLearning) internationally and the results of its adoption in several countries have proven to be quite successful.

In a launch held at The Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City entitled “Digital Visionaries”, I was fortunate enough to witness Globe myBusiness announcement of their technology-based education portfolio. With world-class partners Globals, Desire2Learn and Flipside Publishing, Inc., myBusiness equips schools with School Management Systems, eBook Solutions as well as Integrated Learning Platforms.

So what are these “education solutions” and how do they help improve today’s education status in the Philippines?

  1. School Management Systems offers easier and better control on various processes (e.g. student admission, fee billing, curriculum setting, timetabling, academic achievements, etc.) in the education institution.
  2. eBook Solutions provides schools with digital content to cultivate reading in the age of technology.
  3. Integrated Learning Platforms addresses the future of learning through an online platform that enables teachers to deliver quality instructions and create a unique experience tailored to fit students’ individual needs and objectives, and ultimately track progress and improve learning.

Why is Globe myBusiness offering Education Solutions?

Globe is known for its many “firsts” in telco and notable partnerships with global institutions such as Google, Facebook, Spotify, and more recently the NBA. All these breakthroughs prove the telco’s dedication to a more improved service and a wonderful digital life. But when they announced their education solutions yesterday, not only have they again upped the ante in local telco, but also further proved that they have gone over and beyond typical telco service offerings. Globe Education Solutions not only empowers education businesses but is also testament to the brand’s promise of nation-building.

Globe Senior Vice President for myBusiness, Martha Sazon, shared that these world-class partners are one with Globe in its vision to elevate the field of Philippine education into the digital and mobile technology space while contributing to national development.

Top-tier institution supports mEducation and eLearning

Brother President and Chancellor for De La Salle College of St. Benilde Br. Dennis Magbanua, FSC expressed the same sentiments towards eLearning and mEducation during his message for the Digital Visionaries attendees, sharing their trust in Globe as their broadband service provider.

Anything and everything digital is but second-nature to today’s generation of learners. With the extensive and innovative education solution offerings launched by Globe myBusiness, the Philippines is now equipped with the much-needed tools that will in turn shape tomorrow’s leaders.
