Let me be the first to say it in case you felt the same way, Airdrop sucks balls every so often. It’s faulty and it isn’t reliable. It’s great when it works but it’s such a pain when it doesn’t. And boy does it falter quite often.
I sometimes take countless minutes trying to detect my other devices via Airdrop when it should be practically instantaneous. Sometimes, sending files via email end up being faster, albeit more tedious.
In my quest to search for faster (and more reliable) means to transfer files from one device to another, I stumbled upon a really nifty gadget.
It’s called the PhotoFast i-FlashDrive HD.
What is the PhotoFast i-FlashDrive HD
What it is in essence is a flash drive. But unlike your typical thumb drive, the i-FlashDrive HD has two (2) plugs located on both ends of the device. One end sports an Apple Lightning Cable plug and the other end is a regular USB-type plug.
The concept is simple.
You can transfer files from your iOS device to the i-FlashDrive HD’s internal storage (using their very own free iOS app) and transfer them to a Mac/PC via its USB capability or to another iOS device through the same Lightning port.
The i-FlashDrive HD iOS app also enables you to backup your iOS device’s contacts in-case something unfortunate happens to it. You can also link a Dropbox account for more versatility and transfer options. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
It’s very easy to operate and quite user-friendly.
With the i-FlashDrive HD, I can now transfer a ton of files (photos, video, music, etc.) from my iPhone to our iPad Mini or to my wife’s own iPhone in a jiffy! I can now also free up valuable space from my iPhone by moving unneeded pics and videos to my Acer Aspire Switch 10 or my iMac for editing and archiving. It’s perfect.
No more Airdrop problems or even having to turn on my bluetooth to transfer files. I can simply move them to my PhotoFast i-FlashDrive HD anywhere I am with no problems whatsoever. I can now take more videos and more photos on-the-fly knowing that I’ve got extra storage right in my pocket should the need arises.
Would I recommend the PhotoFast i-FlashDrive HD to you? Of course. Why? Because of two things I’ve always believed in:
- You can never have enough storage space.
- More space is better than less space.
Regardless if you have tons of storage, you’ll definitely find the i-FlashDrive HD useful for a multitude of things such as transporting data, instant sharing or even segregating important and useless files from your iOS device.
